Wigan’s John Bateman has been added to the long-list for the 2018 Rugby League International Federation Golden Boot. The prestigious honour – awarded to the player who has produced the most outstanding performance in international games throughout the year – has been extended following the weekend’s games. Bateman, back in his favoured second-row role, was outstanding during the 18-16 first Test win over New Zealand at Hull, as was Elliot Whitehead, his former Bradford Bulls team-mate who he joins at Canberra Raiders in 2019. He is joined by St Helens winger Tommy Makinson and Whitehead on the list.Makinson, on his first Test start after a try-scoring debut against the Kiwis in June, also impressed. New Zealand stand-off Shaun Johnson – who won the Golden Boot in 2014 – and captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak have also been put under consideration following their own exploits in the tie. They join a list that already includes Tonga’s Jason … [Read more...] about Wigan Warriors’ John Bateman named on Golden Boot long-list

Which is presumably why he signed on as star and producer of Netflix’s Ozark, a glum, occasionally gripping thriller about an everyman thrown into a life of crime in America’s hillbilly heartland which now returns for a second season. No doubt he had in mind an arc similar to that of Bryan Cranston, who graduated from playing the idiot dad in Malcolm in the Middle to becoming the shaven-headed face of pure evil as Breaking Bad’s Walter White. But for Bateman pantomime villainy was ultimately something he stumbled into rather than achieved... John Bateman is leaving Wigan Warriors for the NRL and Canberra Raiders at the end of the season but was expected to come back. The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Canberra which has another year option but at the same time, Wigan revealed he had agreed to a three-year contract back with the club for when he returns. It was an interesting deal which was baffling for some fans but the surprising news is John Bateman admits to being confused by Wigan’s statement as well. Bateman has now explained that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him beyond his deal with the Raiders, with the England international essentially rubbishing the idea that he has signed on the dotted line for a return with Wigan like had been reported by the club. “We had a mutual agreement that if I want to come back to Super League, Wigan would get first choice and that (marquee contract) would be the wage bracket we’d be talking about,” Bateman told Wigan Today. … [Read more...] about SL news: Bateman drops Wigan bombshell, Super 8s to be scrapped

Judith Ohikuare Refinery29 Published 3:03 p.m. UTC Jun 1, 2018 Apologies have abounded from several male cast members of Arrested Development after The New York Times published a "notably raw" interview with actors from the show ahead of the show's fifth season. When Jeffrey Tambor is asked about a time he "lashed out" at costar Jessica Walter, every man in the room immediately jumps to his defense, as if a bat signal had been lit. "We've all done [it]," Jason Bateman says, although Walter challenges his claim. "Oh! You've never yelled at me," she replies, adding that "in almost 60 years of working, I've never had anybody yell at me like that on a set." In a rush to protect Tambor (who was dismissed from the award-winning show Transparent after being accused of sexual harassment), Bateman chalks up the other actor's behavior to the "amorphous process" of working in the entertainment industry. "It is a breeding ground for atypical … [Read more...] about Have a bully yelling at you on the job? Things you can do to deal with the issue
