The fifth IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races will take place this weekend at the eighth round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt. Promoted by the Motor Cycle Road Racing Club of Ireland, the short circuit meeting at the County Down venue boasts a total prize fund of over £10,000 in addition to a range of product-supported prizes provided by Pirelli and Arai along with the IFS David Wood Endeavour Award, which is sponsored by Charles Hurst Hyundai Dundonald ad Rea Timber Craft.The David Wood Memorial Trophy will go to the overall winner of the Supersport Pro class, with Jason Lynn returning to defend his crown after claiming the silverware in 2017.Lynn will be the man to beat on the Walter Bell Yamaha R6, although his opposition includes Mark Conlin (Yamaha), who pushed Lynn all the way in both Supersport races in the previous round at Kirkistown.Christian Elkin will also be aiming to stake his claim for the £1,500 first prize, with £700 going to the … [Read more...] about Jason Lynn out to retain David Wood Memorial trophy at Bishopscourt

The Lynn-based Trackstar Mafia will be in action at Mildenhall this Saturday (5pm) when they take on the Mildenhall Fen Tigers for the second National Banger Head to Head.Two teams of 80 National Banger Drivers will race in the Unlimited Bangers, 2L Bangers and Micro Bangers.The inaugural Head to Head took place last year where the Mafia dominated the afternoon’s proceedings to run out dominant winners scoring 1,600 points to the Fen Tigers’ 400.The format is a unique one in the National Banger calendar featuring two opposing teams and the races are also unique with the races and destruction derbies seeing the winner take all of the points for their team.Following last year’s dominant display the Trackstar Mafia are confident of getting the job done on away turf but are under no illusion that turning over the Fen Tigers on their home track will not be easy.Last Saturday saw the Unlimited Banger World of Shale take place at King’s Lynn. Picture: Archant Archant King’s Lynn Town concluded their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 victory against Spalding United at The Walks on Saturday.
