Cost of living: Chocolate producers forced to raise prices
By Mared Ifan & Elen Davies Published 1 hour ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing A chocolate manufacturer in Wales has said it is feeling the pinch as the cost of living continues to rise. The "astronomical" costs of electricity, heating and ingredients have led to companies like Wickedly Welsh Chocolate having to raise prises. It is the first time since the company was established eight years ago that Wickedly Welsh has increased prices. Co-director of the Pembrokeshire-based company Karen Owen called it "a really tough time". "We have made changes, we've brought equipment in to help us with efficiency in the factory, to improve what we do and how we do it, so that we're as efficient as possible and continue to give quality products to our customers, but at a price that's still affordable to them," said Ms Owen. The Smartphone Psychiatrist
S ometime around 2010, about two-thirds of the way through his 13 years at the helm of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)—the world’s largest mental-health research institution—Tom Insel started speaking with unusual frankness about how both psychiatry and his own institute were failing to help the mentally ill. Insel, runner-trim, quietly alert, and constitutionally diplomatic, did not rant about this. It’s not in him. You won’t hear him trash-talk colleagues or critics. Listen to the audio version of this article: Feature stories, read aloud: download the Audm app for your iPhone. Yet within the bounds of his unbroken civility, Insel began voicing something between a regret and an indictment. In writings and public talks, he lamented the pharmaceutical industry’s failure to develop effective new drugs for depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia; academic psychiatry’s overly cozy relationship with Big Pharma; and the paucity of treatments produced by the … [Read more...] about The Smartphone Psychiatrist

Brilliant British brand MG bounces back with THREE new models
MG has the largest owners club in the world, which shows you just how much people love this British brand both here and abroad. But most of the cars in that club are from the days when MG made wonderful little sports cars with bags of character. After a spell of pretty average motors, things were starting to look up more recently when MG introduced the ZS small SUV and MG5 electric estate. But now the brand is really back with a bang, with three new models announced that will be keenly priced to help people make the move to electric. The biggest news is the MG4, which has been revealed this week. It's a hatchback around the same size as a VW Golf that will seat five and will be fully electric. The MG4 will be rear-wheel drive and get a healthy 281-mile range, plus a tech-laden interior, but should be priced from around £25,000. A hit-and-run motorist jailed for killing an 18-day-old baby after crashing into his pram has had his sentence increased at the Court of Appeal. WALSH: The NBA Killed Itself With Politics And Propaganda. Good Riddance. | The Daily Wire
I am probably a typical case. Never qualifying as a diehard NBA fan, I nonetheless enjoyed the sport and typically became more invested during the playoffs. I loved watching the NBA Finals, especially, and had missed very few Finals games in the past decade or so. I never had a home team but rooted for my favorite players. I had followed Lebron James’s career, in particular, since his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But I didn’t watch a single minute of this past NBA season. LeBron and the Lakers won the trophy on Sunday and I didn’t realize that the game was even happening, or that the Lakers were up in the series. I found out the next day, due to viral footage of Lakers fans rioting in celebration (apparently, revelers celebrating a basketball team’s victory are immune to COVID, just like BLM activists and attendees of memorial services for Democrats). This was the first NBA season I’ve ever ignored, and I didn’t miss it. Being a sports fan is like being under some sort … [Read more...] about WALSH: The NBA Killed Itself With Politics And Propaganda. Good Riddance. | The Daily Wire
