Followers of ‘doomsday cult’ QAnon believe Donald Trump will retake power today

· March 4, 2021 ·

Their messiah is no longer in power, but some followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory believe that Donald Trump will return to the throne today. Followers of the wide-ranging movement think the former president is waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles and will eventually be restored to high office. But why on 4 March? Well, that date was, until the 20th amendment was passed in 1933, the inauguration date for presidents. The fringe belief that is still the rightful date comes from the unfounded claim among some QAnon followers that the US turned from a country to a corporation after the District of Columbia Organic Act in 1871. Advertisement Some claim that any president sworn in before that date is therefore illegitimate. March the 4th began spreading among QAnon followers only days after Joe Biden was sworn in on 20 January. US Election – 7 things we learned as Trump claims Biden wants to cancel Christmas

· October 19, 2020 ·

Donald Trump has continued to cause controversy as he ramped up his campaign tour with constant rallies across America's west - but cracks are showing on both sides. The Democrats have been warned the election will go down to the wire, despite Joe Biden enjoying a major polling lead, as the campaign continues to mirror the failed 2016 bid by Hilary Clinton. The two candidates will debate for a final time on Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee, after their second face-off was cancelled in favour of simultaneous town hall events. Trump has an aggressive schedule planned despite figures showing he raked in £135 million less than the $383 million Biden raised in September to support his efforts. A California fundraiser over the weekend did, however, see backing from the Beach Boys who performed in Newport Beach. Perhaps Trump will swap in one of their tracks to replace his go-to YMCA by The Village People at future rallies. Here's everything you need to know. US Capitol attack: Senators probe security and intelligence failures

· January 23, 2021 ·

Two Senate committees were hearing evidence on Tuesday from the officials in charge of security when the US Congress was attacked by supporters of Donald Trump. Some former security officials have blamed apparent intelligence shortcomings for the failure to anticipate the violence of the mob. The invaders, intent on interrupting a session to certify Joe Biden's presidential election victory , smashed through the barriers at the perimeter. Five people died as a result of the violence, including a Capitol Police officer and a woman whom police shot as she tried to smash through the doors of the House chamber with lawmakers still inside. Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Slovenia’s Marshal Tweeto and the media

· January 4, 2021 ·

A little girl writes graffiti on a wall in English: "If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth." The word "truth" has been crossed out with red spray paint and replaced with "journalism." This picture was tweeted by Slovenia's Prime Minister Janez Jansa. His tweet was aimed at the Kleine Zeitung , a newspaper based in the Austrian city of Graz, which had annoyed the Slovenian premier with an article about his attitude toward the press in his country. It's not unusual to see Janez Jansa tweeting things like this. Quite the opposite, in fact. No other European head of state is personally waging such a bitter war of words against the media. Jansa routinely attacks Slovenian journalists, and he comments on almost every critical article that is published abroad about the political situation in Slovenia under his government. Sometimes he reacts with fury, sometimes disparagingly; he always describes it as fake news. Recently, for example, Jansa branded Lili Bayer, the … [Read more...] about Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Slovenia’s Marshal Tweeto and the media

George Floyd: US House of Representatives approves police reform bill banning chokeholds

· March 4, 2021 ·

A police reform bill in honour of George Floyd that will ban chokeholds and "qualified immunity" for law enforcement officials has been passed by the US House of Representatives. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act would also ban no-knock warrants, mandate data collection on police encounters, prohibit racial and religious profiling and redirect funding to community-based policing programs. The 220-212 vote comes nine months after Mr Floyd , a black man, died when a police officer in Minneapolis pressed a knee on his neck for several minutes. As he died, Mr Floyd was repeatedly heard to say: "I can't breathe." His death in May 2020 prompted massive protests across the US and around the world calling for an end to racial injustice and police brutality. Advertisement California Representative Karen Bass, who authored the bill, said: "Never again should an unarmed individual be murdered or brutalized by someone who is supposed to serve and … [Read more...] about George Floyd: US House of Representatives approves police reform bill banning chokeholds
