YOU'VE probably been using an iPhone for years, but there are almost certainly some shortcuts you don't know about. We've tracked down some of the least widely known iPhone tips and tricks to help you get more from your new expensive Apple mobile. 1. Close all Safari tabs It's possible (but not practical) to close all your Safari web browser tabs by swiping them away. But if you've got dozens of tabs open, it'll take you an age – and you'll probably miss a few swipes too. Instead, simply hold the overlapped squares icon in the bottom right-hand corner. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to close all tabs – hit yes, and you're done! 2. Move your cursor more easily If you make a mistake in text, or you're simply trying to move your cursor, it can be a nightmare. Getting your cursor into the exact position you want it to be in through tapping or drag-and-holding isn't ideal But you own an iPhone 6S or later, you can use 3D Touch – which is Apple's nickname for … [Read more...] about New iPhone tips and tricks – the best hidden features, secret controls and shortcuts revealed
APPLE customers are complaining that their iPhones aren't charging when they're plugged in. The issue appears to primarily affect the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max smartphones, but some users say even their older handsets aren't working right either. For people using older iPhones, they say the issue is happening after updating to iOS 12 – Apple's latest mobile software. Users say that the iPhone doesn't automatically start charging when plugged in, and only works after several tries. A thread about the issue on Apple's official support forums has received nearly 300 replies about the issue. One poster wrote: "So just got my new iPhone, and noticed this issue I've been having. "I connect the Lightning cable to my phone to charge and most of the time it automatically charges. "However I've noticed several times plugging the phone in and no charge comes up. "Tried unplugging and plugging back in, sometimes it'll work." Another user replying to the thread claimed that they had … [Read more...] about iPhone charging bug – iOS 12 update may be preventing some users from charging their phones
APPLE'S new (and pricey) £1,249 iPhone costs just £337 to build, apparently. That's according to analysts who say the actual parts for Apple's 256GB iPhone XS Max come in well under the retail price of the phone. Gadget geeks at Tech Insights have torn open the new blower, and tallied up the cost of individual components. They came to a total bill of $443, which works out at around £337 at current exchange rates. This is actually an increase on last year's smaller iPhone X, which was believed to have cost $395.44 (or £301) in raw materials. Some of the pricier components dragging up the cost include the new display, camera, processor, and memory. This particular iPhone retails at £1,249 in the UK. The difference between the alleged cost of materials and Apple's actual price is £912 – not a bad profit margin. Apple also apparently made a slight saving too, by removing some components related to the 3D Touch system. That's the tech that lets you press … [Read more...] about Apple’s new £1,249 iPhone XS Max ‘costs just £337 in parts’ – so why are you paying so much?
An airline pilot told a court he "just lost control" when he attacked his wife with a saucepan, leaving her dead on the kitchen floor. Andrew McIntosh also told jurors he was in a state of numb disbelief after the killing at their former marital home in Warwickshire. Giving evidence at Warwick Crown Court, McIntosh also stated that he had attempted to take his own life four years before Patricia McIntosh's death as he was unhappy with their relationship. McIntosh, 54, has admitted killing his wife Patricia, but denies her murder and is claiming manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility. What did McIntosh say in court? It is alleged that £100,000-a-year pilot McIntosh attacked his wife in frustration on November 15 last year after Mrs McIntosh refused to lower the asking price of their former marital home in Knightcote. During evidence on the third day of his trial, McIntosh told a jury of eight women and four men: "I just remember having an overwhelming feeling of … [Read more...] about “I just lost control” says pilot accused of wife’s murder
