Malaysia has been stripped of the right to host the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships for threatening to refuse to allow Israeli athletes to take part, the International Paralympic Committee said on Sunday. The decision was taken "after the Home Ministry of Malaysia failed to provide the necessary guarantees that Israeli Para swimmers could participate, free from discrimination, and safely in the Championships," the IPC said in a statement. IPC President Andrew Parsons said: "When a host country excludes athletes from a particular nation, for political reasons, then we have absolutely no alternative but to look for a new Championships host. "All World Championships must be open to all eligible athletes and nations to compete safely and free from discrimination." The championships, a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, were due to take place in Kuching on July 29-August 4. The Malaysian government has banned Israeli participants from a Paralympic swimming competition scheduled for July, stating that the country will not host any events in future involving Israel in solidarity with Palestine. Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said on Wednesday that no Israeli competitor will be allowed to participate in the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, a tournament which serves as a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. By Naila Huseynli The national Paralympic team of Azerbaijan successfully performed at the European Championship in Germany. The team participated in the competition in Berlin with four athletes. Members of the national team Olokhan Musayev and Samir Nabiyev claimed silver medals in the continental championship. Olokhan became the champion of the Paralympic Games in Pekin, in 2008. In the final, he renewed the World Record scoring 13.49 points. He became the 2nd World Champion in 2009. Two years later he triumphed for the third time in Sharjah. Moreover, Olokhan won a bronze medal in men’s shot put F56 event at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku. Samir took silver in the 2015 IPC Athletics Grand Prix FAZAA International Athletics Competition hold in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates in 2015.
