THE site of the world's worst nuclear disaster has seen a huge surge in visitors and is now being made into a tourist site. Chernobyl is a ghost city in the restricted Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, where a power plant explosion claimed the lives of dozens of people in April 1986. At least 31 people died following exposure to radiation, but the World Health Organisation has estimated that thousands of people could eventually be exposed to fatal radiation. Chernobyl is situated in northern Kieve Oblast in Ukraine , near the border with Belarus . The site and the nearby city of Pripyat were evacuated on April 23, 1986, 30 hours after the most disastrous nuclear accident in history. Pripyat, a city of 50,000 people and far closer to the power plant than Chernobyl itself, was built in the 1970s as a home for the power plant workers. Caitlin Fladager, 27, lives in Vancouver, Canada, where recreational and medicinal marijuana use is legal. But despite this the mum-of-two says that she is constantly subjected to judgement from other mothers. But Caitlin says that lighting up a joint is no different to winding down with a glass of wine, taking to Instagram to defend herself. “Yes, I have two kids. Up to 90% of UK summer holidays are now sold out following booking boom – here is how to still find a great deal
AS MANY as 90 per cent of summer holidays are sold out as UK tour operators warn that bookings are still soaring. Brits opting to stay in the UK for a holiday this year are likely to be left disappointed with little left on the market. The government announced that domestic holidays can start as soon as April 12 as long as cases continue to drop, but this is only for one household, and at self-catered accommodation. From May 17, group holidays can go ahead while hotels will reopen, and June 21 is the earliest that travel restrictions may be fully eased. This has led to surging demand for UK holidays especially in popular destinations such as Cornwall , Devon and Dorset. According to the Telegraph , self-catered accommodation website Unique Homestays has warned that 92 per cent of summer holiday dates are booked up, with Oliver's Travels has just eight per cent of properties still available during the summer season.
