INCREDIBLE snaps reveal eerie abandoned Russian ghost towns frozen in time after residents fled hellish -50C temperatures. The eerie images were taken 11 miles from the coal-mining town of Vorkuta in the Sementnozavodsky region. Vorkuta is one of the coldest towns in Europe and was once home to a Stalin-established Gulag prison camp. But it has been a long time since these properties have seen the hustle and bustle of residents, with snow blasting its way into forgotten homes and icicles covering staircases and sticking out of window frames. Aerial shots also show abandoned vehicles blanketed with snow in a car park while apartment blocks appear painted white after being hit with by blizzards. A mother-of-two has revealed how she's spending seven days a week renovating the eight-bedroom former Methodist Church she bought in a hurry after just one viewing.   Emily Barratt, 36, from Manchester, and her husband paid £470,000 for the property, and spends five hours every weekday renovating her house while homeschooling her children, working on the house between 1pm and 6pm, while she spends seven hours a day on the weekends.  Although she called in the professionals to do the kitchen, which needed a lot of structrual changes, Emma has been doing the bulk of the work herself, learning through YouTube tutorials and by trial and error.  Her renovations include turning a bedroom into her dream dressing room; the master bedroom where she spent two weeks sanding the beams and fitting new carpets; doing the painting, floors and tilling in her new pastel-themed downstairs loo, and even turned the garage into a bar. It was the home referred to as a 'paradise' by its inhabitants, a villa surrounded by a walled garden and high trees. But it was where Nazi Rudolf Hoess lived with his wife and five children when he was the commander of Auschwitz-Birkenau - the concentration camp in which 1.2million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. The home was on the corner of the camp. The trees and the garden wall deliberately obscured the view of the chimney of the crematoria, where the bodies of men, women and children who had been murdered in gas chamber were burnt to ashes. Now, astonishing photos - taken in 2007 but revealed for the first time - show the inside of the home, near the town of Oswiecim, in Poland, which was occupied by the Nazis during the Second World War.
