0 Post a comment Wednesday, 11 April 2018 - Events CHILDREN at The Ark Nursery and Pre-school enjoyed their first Easter egg hunt with a number of fun activities, including making nests and bird feeders for the outdoor areas, as well as baking bunny-shaped cookies and colouring eggs. A springtime tapestry in the classroom features lambs made from cotton wool, yellow paper daffodils, ducks in a pond, pink blossoms in trees, fluffy clouds, caterpillars, butterflies and a rainbow made from all the childrens handprints.Opened in October 2017 by retired senior project manager for the Highways Agency, Paul Arnold, who was involved in building the A3 Hindhead Tunnel, and is affectionately known as “Mr Noah”, the nursery at Liphook Church Centre, now has a total of seven regular staff members. WITH Easter upon us, thoughts turn to chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and tales of the Easter bunny. To mark the Christian festival, revellers are already stocking up on sweet treats and arranging Easter egg hunts. But what is the history of the tradition and why are bunnies and eggs so symbolic? Here's the story... Why do we buy Easter eggs? During the Christian calendar event, it’s become customary to buy chocolate eggs. The sweet treats have a hollow centre, which has become a symbol of Jesus’ empty tomb. According to the Bible, the Son of God’s body was laid out in the tomb after crucifixion. The scriptures state that when the stone covering the entrance was moved, the corpse was nowhere to be found and onlookers discovered that Jesus had risen.
