Davide Sanclimenti has revealed he was asked to take part in Dancing on Ice 2023, but turned it down. The Love Island winner, 27, is in demand after clinching the £50,000 prize with his soul mate and absolute queen Ekin-su Cülcüloğlu. Both Davide and Ekin-su have been non-stop since Love Island, launching fashion collections, lifting each other up at the gym and filming their new reality TV series , exploring Italy and Turkey. In turn, Dancing on Ice was off the table – at least for now. ‘They wanted me to do Dancing on Ice this year but I refused this time around,’ he told The Sun. ‘I have so much going on and I can’t commit to something every day and when I do something I want to do it properly. ‘Right now I just can’t focus on something like that, for the moment anyway, but in the future maybe I will.’ Well, his decision could be great news for his Love Island pal Tasha Ghouri who recently told Metro.co.uk she would love to take part in Dancing on Ice … [Read more...] about Love Island’s Davide Sanclimenti reveals why he turned down huge Dancing on Ice offer

Love Island 2022 winner Davide Sanclimenti has spoken about why he ‘refused’ to appear on hit ITV show Dancing on Ice next year. Having dinner at a younger relative’s house a few months ago, I inadvertently sent everyone into fits of giggles when I spoke to the Alexa. ‘Hello Alexa, could you please tell me what the weather forecast is next weekend, thank you?’ I asked. I don’t have an Alexa, so I had no idea that this wasn’t how you spoke to her. I didn’t understand what I’d done wrong. ‘Why are you talking like that?’ someone asked. I looked blankly. ‘You’re so polite,’ said the host, who is in her 20s. ‘You don’t have to say “please” or “thank you”.’ She demonstrated by berating the poor device. ‘It just sounds a bit . . . rude,’ I winced. ‘It’s like having a slave.’ Everyone laughed and rolled their eyes at how quaint and old-fashioned I was. I know it’s just a machine and doesn’t have feelings, but it still felt brusque and, well, a bit horrible. Surely it’s a slippery slope from barking orders at a machine to shouting at real-life people? So I felt somewhat vindicated last week, when I read that … [Read more...] about NHS psychiatrist DR MAX PEMBERTON: Sorry, but Alexa is making children so rude!

Patsy Palmer has been confirmed as the first contestant on Dancing on Ice . Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced the news on This Morning today after teasing the star's identity throughout the show. "I can't believe I'm the first one!" the former EastEnders star told the presenters as she appeared on a live link on ITV. "No backing out now, we’ve revealed you." Holly joked as Patsy beamed on screen from Los Angeles, where she now lives. “What made you want to do this? What made you want to take part?” Holly asked. “Well I didn’t obviously call them up and say ‘can I take part?’. Just out of all the things that came through at that time, this was the one that I had to really think about. “Obviously I wanted to challenge myself, get back to work, get out of my comfort zone. SIR – A tax cut of £6 billion and cancelled tax rises of £40 billion equate to a fraction of the quantitative easing carried out since 2008 – just shy of £900 billion – and the cost of lockdowns – more than £300 billion. A reckoning was inevitable. Britain may struggle to service its debt, but this has been 14 years in the making. Blaming the tax cuts is disingenuous at best, dishonest at worst. Doug Smith SIR – Everyone is attacking the Government – the International Monetary Fund, the Labour Party, the BBC, and disgruntled and overlooked backbenchers. Yet the Government did what Liz Truss said it would do, which is cut taxes fast on the principle that if you let people keep their money they will spend and invest more, creating growth for the benefit of all. The Bank of England, on the other hand, is making up for lost time, having been asleep on the job of keeping a lid on inflation. It is now bailing out pension funds that were hedging their bond positions and got … [Read more...] about Letters: Tax cuts are not to blame for this long-overdue economic reckoning
While the landmark Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is blacked out in a bid to preserve energy, I can see the bright lights of the Empire State Building blazing from my window in New York. The contrast is striking. Germany has just hit double-digit inflation of 10.9 per cent for the first time in decades. And as for Britain – well, it’s never been cheaper from an American’s perspective. On the money markets, the pound is now virtually at parity with the dollar. And, if you’re in the unfortunate position of travelling in the other direction, you’ll find that a pound buys you a bit less than a dollar at a high-street currency exchange. Fortunately for me, I’m flying in the right direction. As you read this, I will be jetting from New York to Heathrow and on to the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, where I will, I’m sure, be buying the drinks. My flight to Heathrow will undoubtedly be full. Make no mistake, the Americans are coming to Europe – and we are coming in numbers. You … [Read more...] about American tourists are racing to Europe – and they’re here to spend
Two people have been found dead and 16 others were still missing two days after a boat carrying 27 Cuban migrants sank off the coast of Florida as Hurricane Ian slammed into the state, the U.S. Coast Guard said Friday. After the boat capsized Wednesday, four of the people on board swam to Stock Island, just east of Key West, the U.S. Border Patrol said. On Thursday, the Coast Guard said a total of nine people had been safely located and rescued. The Coast Guard's 7th District said in separate tweets Friday that two bodies had been recovered — one near Ocean Edge Marina and one in Boca Chica Channel. Air and sea crews continued to search for 16 people still believed to be missing. "We can only pray our crews find them so their families and loved ones can rest," Coast Guard Captain Robert Kinsey said in a statement . "Our air and surface crews are patrolling and are on the lookout to prevent illegal and unsafe ventures." The Coast Guard also said that it had … [Read more...] about 2 bodies recovered, 16 still missing after boat carrying migrants sinks off Florida during Hurricane Ian
