The first nominations for this year's BAFTAs have been announced - and for the first time, all the actors in the Rising Star category are British. Nominees for the award, which honours young or up-and-coming acting talent and is the only one voted for by the public, have been revealed ahead of the full BAFTA shortlist announcement on Tuesday. This year's Rising Star shortlist is made up of Bukky Bakray (Rocks), Conrad Khan (County Lines), Morfydd Clark (Saint Maud), Sope Dirisu (His House) and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Ben-Adir, who plays minister and activist Malcolm X in Regina King's recent directorial debut One Night In Miami, told Sky News' Backstage podcast that it's a great group to be part of - and that he and Dirisu have known each other for a while. PEAKY Blinders have revealed a new cast member for the sixth series. It was confirmed in January 2021 that the upcoming season of the period crime drama will be the last. It was announced that 2021 BAFTA Rising Star nominee Conrad Khan has joined the cast of Peaky Blinders . The Peaky Blinders official twitter posted earlier this week: "We’re delighted to welcome @BAFTA #EERisingStar nominee Conrad Khan to the cast of #PeakyBlinders series six.” Conrad's previous projects include 2019 crime drama County Lines, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Black Mirror and the upcoming series of Baptiste.
