Who is Janet Street-Porter? The 71-year-old broadcaster was born in Brentford in Middlesex. After dropping out of college, she took up a job at Petticoat Magazine. Shak Khan, 46, from South Shore, says he has been the victim of racial slurs and told to ‘go back to his own country’ despite being born in Halifax.He says he reported the incidents to police, but that no charges were ever brought against those responsible.Lancashire Police said reports of racism are taken ‘incredibly seriously’.Mr Khan said: “I feel like I’m being let down by the police in various incidents.“Am I supposed to take racist abuse and just put up with it because I feel like there’s no point reporting it?”On April 14, Mr Khan, who once represented Pakistan as a wrestler, called the police to report a road rage incident in Blackburn in which a driver used racial slurs. The teenage victim of a brutal race hate attack called his parents to say ‘I’m dying, I love you’ before the line went dead as he lay seriously injured in the street. Rugby player Matthew Hayden, 17, was left with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain after being mowed down by a car and hit over the head with a golf club in the horrific, unprovoked assault in Rochdale in the early hours of Saturday (June 2). A Wednesday morning, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault in connection with the attack. He remains in police custody for questioning. Matthew’s parents, who asked not to be named, have now made an emotional appeal for information and revealed more details about the shocking incident.
