Isle Of Wight Festival confirms it will go ahead – but moves from June to September after lockdown roadmap announcement

· March 2, 2021 ·

The Isle Of Wight Festival has announced it will go ahead this year, but is moving from June to September following the government's roadmap out of lockdown announcement. It was originally due to run from 17 to 20 June, just ahead of the date of 21 June given by Boris Johnson as the earliest possible to lift all COVID-19 restrictions in England. There are fears many festivals planned even for after that date will still be forced to cancel due to the uncertainty over dates and large-scale events, and on Monday, organisers for rock festival Download announced they were calling it off for a second year. But Isle Of Wight organisers have decided to postpone instead, announcing on Tuesday: "The Isle of Wight Festival is a summer staple and two years without being together on the island is too long. "That's why we're so excited to announce that we're moving the festival to 16 to 19 September 2021. Simon Cowell ‘rows in the street’ with Lauren Silverman before she walks off

· March 2, 2021 ·

Simon Cowell has been spotted having what appeared to be a row with partner Lauren Silverman in the street. Onlookers claimed that talent show mogul Cowell had a 'face like thunder' during the exchange that Lauren 'walked away' from. The X Factor judge and long-term partner Lauren were spotted on a walk with their seven-year-old son Eric and dog when they paused to face each other, in pictures obtained by The Sun. A passer-by told the paper "They seemed to be rowing. Simon had a face like thunder. It appeared to be very fraught. “Lauren turned to move off and Simon put out his hand as if he didn’t want her to walk off." The onlooker said Simon, 61, appeared cross and got his phone out to call someone after crossing to the other side of the road alone. "It was odd they walked in the same direction but not together," said the observer, adding that the couple both looked annoyed. A source close to the family denied there was a quarrel and said the pair are happier than … [Read more...] about Simon Cowell ‘rows in the street’ with Lauren Silverman before she walks off

World’s ‘first socially-distanced concert’ could be future of festivals – so you can leave the wellies at home

· August 12, 2020 ·

THOUSANDS of people watched the world's first socially-distanced gig in Newcastle last night - and it could be the welly-free future for festivals. North Shields performer Sam Fender performed a home-town gig at Newcastle's Gosforth Park in front of 2,500 fans who sat in sectioned-off areas. Revellers in groups of up to five were spread across 500 separate raised metal platforms to enjoy the music. All were given chairs when they arrived at the pop-up Virgin Money Unity Arena yesterday. And there are hopes the gig could pave the way for the return of live music during the pandemic after Fender's performance last night, as well as a further gig tonight, sold out. Further concerts are planned, with music legend Van Morrison, The Libertines and Maximo Park performing at the venue this month and in September. Comedians Jimmy Carr and Bill Bailey will also play at the temporary arena.
