Harry Redknapp picks up the phone, seemingly bewildered that we have an interview – even though he’s been doing the rounds all morning and I’m his last slot of the day. Still, we plough on amiably as the ex-football manager, jam roly-poly lover and jungle king (he won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018 and captured the heart of the nation) talks about his life beyond football and other musings in his new book, The World According To Harry. He’s quick to tell you what’s wrong with football today – crazy money, players not being in touch with the fans, social media watching their every move – and how the England squad would … [Read more...] about Harry Redknapp: ‘I don’t think I could live without Sandra’

I’m sure that stuff has gone … [Read more...] about Just Jane: My daughter, 23, drinks too much and sleeps around, is it bad I don’t like her?
Columnist and trained counsellor Fiona Caine advises a woman navigating her friends' divorce, and a mother whose daughter says her father sexually abused her A few weeks back, my good friends told me they are getting divorced. Over the years they have been such close friends, spending holidays with us and always willing to help if we had a problem. However, although they say the split is amicable, we are getting regular phone calls in which they seem to try to get us to take sides. The dogs get great exercise, I get time to think and to process everything that goes on in my life. So by the time I get to my studio, I'm completely on it. It's just very therapeutic. It's very simple, not complicated." Simple, not complicated, is very much what Helen aims for these days. And no wonder. This time last year she went for a mammogram. "I discovered a lump in my right breast. I was convinced it was just a lumpy breast." However, her partner (now husband), architect Rory Murphy, "was convinced it was something sinister. So I thought, I'll go and get checked and it will all be grand. Two years ago, I had a lump looked at, in St Vincent's, and I had a mammogram and an ultrasound, and I was told there was nothing wrong with me. So this time, I went for the mammogram, and nothing came up. But because there was a palpable lump, I … [Read more...] about ‘I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me’
