A Hull FC player has revealed how he has befriended a homeless man in Hull city centre - stopping by to visit him on multiple occasions and even handing over some of his own clothes. Levy Nzoungou, 21, says he sat alongside the man to listen to his "painful" life story as other people walked past and ignored him. Nzoungou, who was born in Congo, initially met his new friend having spotted him while driving around the city. He jumped out of his car to hand him a jacket and was delighted to find he was still wearing it when he returned to check up on him the next day. The prop forward, who started his career as a youngster with St Helens before moving to a host of different clubs, has now called for others to help out the city's homeless community where they can to "make them feel appreciated". Describing how he came to meet the homeless man, Nzoungou said: "Everyone was typically walking past him and ignoring whilst shopping. I step out of car, grabbed a jacket that I had in the boot of … [Read more...] about Hull FC’s steps in to help homeless man in city centre

Chris Green admits he was surprised not to be offered a new deal at Hull FC this season. After spending his entire career at the KCOM Stadium, barring a few loan moves, his time as an FC player is now over. Green joined Wakefield Trinity on loan last week for the remainder of the season and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season he will be looking to impress and put himself in the shop window under Chris Chester. The 29-year-old is expected to make his debut for the club against Hull KR this weekend, but he admits he is disappointed not to be returning to west Hull for another year with the Black and Whites. “It was quite surprising (not getting offered a deal),” Green told The Yorkshire Post. “I didn’t hear a lot from them and as time went on it was a bit disappointing but that’s how sport goes at times. “I feel like I’m playing the best rugby I’ve ever played at the moment and it’s not ideal how this … [Read more...] about Chris Green surprised not to be offered new deal at Hull FC
Rugby League’s transfer deadline day is fast approaching and the next week or so could be a busy and frantic period for a number of Super League clubs. Teams have until Friday August 9 to make any final additions that could help them in the final five games of the season in their respective battles at the top or bottom of the table. With less than a week to go new arrivals at Hull FC cannot be completely ruled out, but Hull Live understands the club are not actively looking to offload anyone at this stage. The Black and Whites agreed to allow Dean Hadley and Jez Litten join Hull KR on loan early last week, where they will look to keep Rovers in the top flight before penning three-year deals at Craven Park. Despite a number of clubs enquiring about the availability of Hull players recently, with play-offs more than likely on the horizon for Hull next month, Radford is keen to give himself as many options with personnel as possible Therefore, with just days until the window … [Read more...] about Could more players leave Hull FC before the transfer deadline?
Respected NRL commentator Andrew Voss has tipped Manu Ma’u to be a huge success in the Super League ahead of his move to Hull FC . The back-rower will complete his switch to the KCOM Stadium from Parramatta Eels at the end of the season with the Black and Whites beating off competition from the NRL for his signature. Ma’u travels to the Northern Hemisphere with a fearsome reputation and in impressive form for the Eels, in fact Voss believes the Tonga international has ‘never played better’. Writing in his League Weekly column, Voss has backed Ma’u to excel on British shores under Lee Radford. “Hull FC have signed a beast and that is said with the greatest of respect,” He wrote. “Parramatta’s Tonga international Manu Ma’u will be a huge hit I am sure in the Super League. “At 30, based on his current form with the Eels after an injury disrupted start in 2019, the bloke has never played better. “What you’ll … [Read more...] about Voss backs ‘beast’ Manu Ma’u to be a huge success at Hull FC
Another empty unit at St Stephen's shopping centre has been filled. The former Domo store was taken over temporarily by Hull FC and had lain empty for a number of weeks when the rugby club moved out. But now men’s hair stylists Vintage Barbershop has moved into the unit from a small pod at St Stephen’s. The traditional English barbers specialise in gentlemen’s grooming, offering haircuts, traditional hot towel shaves and beard trims. The shop offers walk-in appointments only, meaning shoppers do not need to book in advance. The move to a new space comes as part of the Vintage Barbershop’s expansion plans under new management. Hull locals Andy Williams and Phelm Punshon took over the running of the business in June and say they have big plans for the business. Mr Williams said: “Me and Phelm are really happy to announce our new partnership, and our big plans for the business. We’re looking forward to welcoming current and existing clients to our … [Read more...] about Popular shop takes over ex-Hull FC store in St Stephen’s
