New Hull City goalkeeper Matt Ingram has vowed to become the club’s number one stopper ahead of George Long. The 25-year-old arrived at the KCOM Stadium from Queens Park Rangers last month, penning a three-year contract and became the first signing under new City head coach Grant McCann. Ingram’s arrival sees him replace David Marshall, whose three years with the Tigers recently came to an end, having joined Wigan Athletic on a free transfer. To become the club’s new first choice he will have to contend with fellow 25-year-old Long, with the duo both low on Championship appearances. But Ingram says that he has high ambitions and that it would be not ambitious of him to move to East Yorkshire and settle for sporadic appearances. “It comes back to ambition, otherwise, why are you at Hull City football club,” said Ingram. “I think everyone wants to play, even the young lads want to play. We are an ambitious group and I think everyone wants to … [Read more...] about Matt Ingram confident of Hull City number one role

Hull City's squad is in line for a major overhaul between now and when they officially start their 2019-20 Championship campaign. On Friday, the club announced the release of seven first-team players, including Evandro, Will Keane and Liam Ridgewell. With Todd Kane and Chris Martin's loan spells expiring, the number of players currently in Nigel Adkins' first-team squad is dropping, a number which could fall even even further should Fraizer Campbell and David Marshall not wish to renew their current deals and the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki and Markus Henriksen be sold, as expected, to generate funds for the club. The end of parachute payments from the Premier League also leaves City with a considerably lower income than they have been receiving in recent seasons, which is likely to see much of their transfer targets coming from free agents or loan acquisitions. Hull City recorded one of the lowest operating losses of any side in the Championship during the 2017-18 season. Research from the Daily Mail shows that sides competing in England's second tier made a combined total operating loss of over £510 million, although City only contributed to a very fractional amount of the league's total. In total, City recorded operating losses of £4,556,341, the fourth lowest out of the 22 clubs whose figures have been published. The two clubs with the lowest operating loss totals, Barnsley and Burton Albion, were both relegated. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham both posted operating losses of over £59 million, however, both sides earned promotion that season, displaying that for them, it was a gamble worth taking. Hull City are expected to announce their retained list for the 2019-20 season inside the next 24 hours in what will be the first stage of a summer rebuild. Departures are guaranteed as the club cuts its wage bill, as well as making room for the necessary reinforcements to arrive at the KCOM Stadium this summer. It is not yet a given that all nine out-of-contract players will move on but what does the future have in store for those with deals due to expire in just six weeks? Fraizer Campbell Of all the uncertainty that comes at the end of a season, it is the doubts surrounding Campbell’s future that are causing most anxiety to supporters. The striker has been told that the offer of an extension will eventually come but it will inevitably be on a dramatically reduced wage. City were unwilling to trigger an additional 12 months on his initial contract signed in July 2017 and that has left the door ajar for others to declare their interest. The Tigers can only hope theirs is the best … [Read more...] about What next for Hull City’s out-of-contract stars?
