The office of former first lady Melania Trump slammed NBC resident historian Michael Beschloss for posting misleading commentary about her renovations of the Rose Garden at the White House. Although he's admitted to a youthful dalliance with the Class B drug , London's mayor didn't take the opportunity for a toke on what was a fact-finding tour of a California dispensary. Indeed, throughout his whistle-stop tour of the US, Mr Khan carefully stuck to the script - although he may need a new pair of drumsticks after frequently referencing the instrument he … [Read more...] about Sadiq Khan in the USA: London’s mayor sticks to script

Live updates | Japan joins G-7 effort to quit Russian oil
TOKYO — Prime Minister Fumio Kishida says Japan will slowly phase out Russian oil imports in unity with the Group of Seven’s effort against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine . Leaders from the G-7 countries met online Sunday and announced their commitment to ban or phase out Russian oil imports in their latest effort to pressure Moscow into ending its aggression on Ukraine. “It’s an extremely difficult decision for a country that mostly relies on energy imports, including oil,” Kishida told reporters Monday. “But G-7 unity is most important right now.” Kishida said it will be a gradual and slow process of phasing out Russian oil imports and that details and timeline will be decided later as the process requires securing alternative energy sources. About 4% of Japanese oil imports come from Russia. Japan has also announced phasing out Russian coal imports. Svitolina: Russian, Belorussian players must speak about war
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina wants Russian and Belarusian players to say whether they oppose the war in her nation. “For us, for Ukrainians, it’s very important that they speak out, that they choose which side they take. We want to know, we want to feel safe about that. Because if they don’t say their opinion on this, we don’t know if they support their government, if they support the action of the army,” Svitolina told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “Because in Russia and Belarus sport is a big propaganda.” In an interview with the AP , Svitolina also addressed mental health and feeling overwhelmed by the anguish of war. Mental strain led to the former third-ranked Ukrainian’s decision to take a break from tennis. She said the stress also accentuated ongoing back problems. “For me it’s been a really rough couple of months mentally to hold everything on my shoulders. That’s why it was a better decision to take my time to really settle down,” she … [Read more...] about Svitolina: Russian, Belorussian players must speak about war
