Review: A sneak peak into Halloween Horrors
Halloween is drawing closer and Fort Amherst have upped the stakes again for another year of screams of scares.Terror awaits for anyone who is brave enough to take on the hour long spine-tingling terror tour at the Halloween Horrors event held at the historic fort in Chatham.I went along with some friends and family and did just that.Clinging nervously to my boyfriends hand, I could hear the sound of a chainsaw in the distance followed by some serious screams and I knew I was going to be in for a long night. As we gathered together with the rest of our tour group, we were led by a freaky clown and a crazy circus master up a steep hill to begin. This year the theme was freaks, and the whole experience reminded me of being in The Hills Have Eyes mixed with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, two absolute Halloween movie classics. With screams and jumps round every corner, there was nowhere to run or hide as you stepped into the unknown filled with characters made from nightmares.Throughout the … [Read more...] about Review: A sneak peak into Halloween Horrors
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will scare you back to the 80s
Crazed, masked serial killer Michael Myers loomed out of the shadows in the devastated mental hospital and slashed wildly at me with his huge knife. As we progressed through the ruined wards on the journey to Haddonfield, Illinois, where Myers is heading to kill his niece Jamie Lloyd and anyone who stands in his way, he repeatedly jumped out in front, beside and often behind me, screaming and waving his bloodied weapon in my face. I was told that most of the time I was screaming louder than Myers himself! Welcome to Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers at Universal Orlando’s 28th annual Halloween Horror Nights. This year’s event in Universal Studios – with a classic 80s horror theme – is the biggest and best yet with 10 haunted houses, five scare zones and a storming live show from the Academy of Villains. I am obsessed with the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, so had been in a state of full-on nerdish excitement to see the haunted house based … [Read more...] about Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will scare you back to the 80s
Gorelando: What’s it like to visit Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios?
Most people certainly wouldn’t be looking to travel over 4,000 miles to tremble through spine-tingling haunted houses and elaborate scare zones in one of the world’s most famous theme parks. But that is exactly what I did last week, and I am still not completely right after it. On the recommendation of Universal Studios in Orlando, I left my family behind because this holiday was strictly for the over 12s. In truth, I didn’t know what I was getting myself in for - but the hype surrounding the annual Florida fright fest that I had watched on social media channels and read about for years was too good to pass up. I’m not a horror movie fan and never will be, but that didn’t take away from the thrill of a 33-night event that the sick geniuses at Universal Studios call Halloween Horror Nights (just search for the hashtag #HHN28 to give you a glimpse into how popular this is). Imagine closing a theme park at 5pm on a scorching September evening and opening it … [Read more...] about Gorelando: What’s it like to visit Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios?

It's scary enough watching horror films. But imagine climbing right inside the kind of scary movies you grew up with and experiencing the nightmares in full living action. If you think that sounds intense and terrifying, you’d be right. Universal Studios Orlando are this year celebrating their 28th year of Halloween Horror Nights, when the theme park puts its expertise to good use by creating a series of incredible mazes and themed zones to celebrate the scariest time of year. Using actors and cinema-grade special effects, make-up and costumes, they have a collection of 10 themed haunted houses in which guests can be terrified by creepy scenarios, scary monsters and general horror scenes that fright fans will adore. HHN28 returns this year from September 14 to November 4 and it’s a brilliant add-on to an Orlando trip. As a horror fan, it is a nightmare come true and I loved every minute of it. It is intense, and is not recommended for children under 13. A mix of original … [Read more...] about Nightmare come true as Halloween Horror Nights hits Universal Studios Orlando
