Ford’s electric pickup truck will now cost at least $46,974
Ford Motor has increased the price of its electric pickup truck by thousands of dollars "due to significant material cost increases and other factors," the Michigan automaker said Tuesday. The basic model for the F-150 Lightning, called the Lightning Pro, will now start at $46,974, up nearly $7,000 from its $39,974 price tag earlier this year. The truck's most expensive model, the Platinum Extended Range, will cost $96,874, up by $6,000. Ford's price hikes come on the same day as President Biden's signing of new legislation designed to make it easier for automakers to get the semiconductors needed to manufacture new vehicles. The Chips and Science Act provides more than $200 billion to boost domestic production of the computer chips, White House officials said . Even though semiconductor shortages have weighed on the production of new vehicles, Ford said its price hikes were due to battery costs. "The vast majority of this price adjustment relates to battery material … [Read more...] about Ford’s electric pickup truck will now cost at least $46,974
Trump’s early 2024 announcement could help fund legal battles
Former President Donald Trump has spent the last few weeks teasing a potential 2024 run. And last week, he pretty much confirmed his plans to New York magazine's Olivia Nuzzi, telling her that the only question left in his mind is when he'll announce—before or after this year's midterms. A presidential bid this early on will likely spike campaign donations from excited Trump supporters. Using campaign donations to mount a legal defense is not new. Many candidates disperse funds for typical legal fees, like paying an attorney to file candidacy, hiring legal counsel to ensure the campaign follows the law, or even to have a team help contest the results of an election—issues all rooted in campaigning. However, the line is a little blurrier when … [Read more...] about Trump’s early 2024 announcement could help fund legal battles

Most Electric Vehicles Won’t Qualify For ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ Tax Credits, None Will Qualify In A Few Years | The Daily Wire
Most electric cars won’t qualify for the tax credits established by the tax and spending plan recently passed by Democrats in the Senate. According to a report from The Associated Press Tuesday, most new electric vehicles (EVs) would not qualify for the $7,500 tax credit for new EVs established in the climate spending provisions of the so-called “ Inflation Reduction Act .” In order to qualify for the credit, new electric cars must have batteries manufactured in North America, with at least 40% of its metals mined or recycled from North America; those rules become much more strict in a few years, making it even harder for new EVs to qualify, experts said. “The EV tax credit (aka the Clean Vehicle Credit) in the bill is an effective tool to help reduce the upfront cost of an EV for the millions of Americans in the market for a new car or truck,” John Bozzella, the president and CEO of automotive industry trade group Alliance for Automotive Innovation wrote in a blog post … [Read more...] about Most Electric Vehicles Won’t Qualify For ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ Tax Credits, None Will Qualify In A Few Years | The Daily Wire
