The genius tip that will cure your jet lag – but you won’t enjoy the preparation

· March 5, 2021 ·

JET lag can ruin a holiday, as well as make you feel awful for days on end. Many experts have their own ways of avoiding it, with one explaining it is all to do with drinking coffee at the right time. Samantha Brown, who travels for a living as a TV host, said the key to avoiding jet lag starts days before travelling. Sadly, caffeine addicts may not be pleased to hear it includes giving up coffee for a few days before heading off on holiday. She told Travel + Leisure : "I try to limit caffeine a few days before I leave on a trip so it is totally out of my system when I land. "I try to wait to have more caffeine until I'm about to collapse and that is when I allow myself to have a double espresso." She continues: "The caffeine then hits my system so strongly because I am so depleted of it that I am able to go the rest of the day. "I do that again when I return. It is like methodically taking caffeine so I get the strongest punch." Limiting food and drink is way … [Read more...] about The genius tip that will cure your jet lag – but you won’t enjoy the preparation

My son is a real-life Wreck-it Ralph – he’s destroyed 12 TVs and poured SOIL all over my new living room

· March 8, 2021 ·

AS we're sure all parents will agree, toddlers are energetic, rebellious and - most of all - MESSY. Well if you thought you had it bad with permanent marker scribbles on your furniture, then spare a thought for Shyama Underwood. The mum-of-four, 35, from Northampton, says she hasn’t been able to take her eyes off her youngest son, Jaxon-Carter, three, since he started walking at 10 months old. Since then, the cheeky tot's warpath of destruction has set Shyama back a staggering £6,000. If breaking 12 TVs wasn't bad enough, Jaxon-Carter has also done a spot of redecorating by leaving painted handprints all over the walls before pouring SOIL over the family's new living room. But despite efforts to discipline him, Shyama says telling Jaxon-Carter not to do something makes him want to act out more. I won’t spend a penny I don’t have to, I won’t have my car fixed and I reuse mouthwash to save money

· March 8, 2021 ·

A MAN goes to such extreme lengths to save money he even reuses his own mouthwash, with his wife branding him a total ‘cheapskate’. Kristina and Mason Roberts, from the US, live on a strict budget, with Mason watching every single penny - which includes keeping tabs on his wife’s spending. The pair appeared on TLC’s Extreme Cheapskates , with Mason revealing the shocking lengths he goes to to save 11p (15 cents). He shows off a giant bottle of mouthwash to the camera, and after taking a swig he spits it into another bottle to save for later. After doing the calculations, Mason said: “It just seemed like such a waste to only use mouthwash once when it’s antiseptic anyways. “There’s 30 uses in that big mouthwash, and about 30 cents (22p) a use, but if I reuse it a second time that gets it down to 15 cents a use because I’ll have 60 uses. “I just keep two bottles, one with the brand new stuff one with the once-used stuff. “She doesn’t like to do what I do, but I … [Read more...] about I won’t spend a penny I don’t have to, I won’t have my car fixed and I reuse mouthwash to save money

Everyday sexism is real: I’ve been spat at, followed and assaulted since I was 14 – things need to change

· March 8, 2021 ·

WALKING down the pavement, my heart pounding, I tried to keep my eyes on the floor. A group of men on the opposite side of the street were leering and shouting at me, making hand gestures, exchanging loud comments about my developing breasts. I was 14, and it was one of my earliest experiences of street harassment. It was the first time I’d felt really unsafe because I was a girl, but it wouldn’t be the last. I’d go on to be followed home, chased and spat at. A man would later masturbate near me on the bus while he stared intensely into my horrified eyes, grinning. A senior colleague at my first ever holiday temp job would send me inappropriate emails. Eventually, I’d be sexually assaulted a number of times in my twenties. I’d go on to start a campaign against sexism , only to be deluged with hundreds of rape and death threats. Men would compete to come up with the most disgusting ideas, sending me messages about using pieces of furniture to give me internal … [Read more...] about Everyday sexism is real: I’ve been spat at, followed and assaulted since I was 14 – things need to change
