A mum-of-eight has appeared in court after paying another woman £2,000 to take her driving test for her. Jihaan Ahmed, 36, pleaded guilty to committing fraud by asking someone else to impersonate her during a test, the Stoke Sentinel has reported. Magistrates heard how a woman claiming to be Ahmed, and showing her identification, passed a driving test at the centre in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent, in November 2016. The same woman had previously turned up to take a test for someone else - with the same examiner - in April 2015. The court, sitting at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre, heard how the driving test examiner recognised her and the authorities were informed. Simon Dykes, mitigating, said Ahmed met the woman through social media app Snapchat. He told the court: "She has been extremely foolish and naive. I don't think she truly comprehended the enormity of what she was doing." Ahmed, of Drummond Road, Birmingham, was fined £300 by the magistrates. Her boyfriend Kai Milligan, 21, died at the scene after a fence post smashed through a rear window and struck him in the face on July 24, 2016. Three teens were hurt in the collision. She was also banned from the roads for five years. A new mum was overjoyed to 'pass' her driving test - only to have her licence revoked a day later because she'd actually failed. Kelsie Murphy was celebrating her birthday when the test centre contacted her and told her there had been an admin "error". The 22-year-old says her examiner had gone through the test paper with her after she took the exam in Herne Bay, Kent, last month. She says he showed her she had received only six minors and told her: "You’ve got yourself an early birthday present- you’ve passed!" Kelsie was so delighted she was almost in tears - but her happiness turned to confusion when the test centre got in touch the next day. She says she was told to return her pass certificate, with a "major" error having been recorded during her driving test on April 11. It remains unclear how she ended up being given an initial 'pass' result - but the centre has said there was an "administrative error". It is thought she is the first person in Britain to have had … [Read more...] about New mum overjoyed to pass driving test

THE most common reasons for Brits to fail their driving test have been revealed - and they aren't as obvious as you might think. While Brits certainly aren't known for their incredible parking skills, tricky manoeuvres weren't the main reason drivers had to re-sit their test. A recent study, conducted by Warranty Direct, found that the most common reason new drivers would fail their practical test was because they did not properly observe the risks at a junction. Junctions posed a number of issues during driving tests, with many motorists failing when trying to turn right at a crossroads. Drivers were also highly likely to fail their test for not using their mirrors properly when making a turn. While parking manoeuvres weren't as common, reverse parking did come in third on the list, just above poor steering ability.
