His wife declines to nag him on the grounds she doesn’t want to be in a ‘co-dependent relationship’. We all enjoy this man’s company but we cannot work out whether his habit is attention-seeking (for example he often has to kick his legs out at right angles when walking while carrying a lot of equipment) or just a manifestation of his natural slobbishness. Either way it will not make for a restful atmosphere in a forthcoming week-long fishing party. What do you suggest? — S.H., Church Stretton, Salop A. Get hold of the boots while the irritator is in bed and tie each single lace up in a tightly knotted double bow to stand smartly, but not dangling, by the eyelets on either side. The laces will be still intact should he want to do them up — but, since he … [Read more...] about Dear Mary: How can I deal with overly demonstrative colleagues?
How can i find a man
Dear Coleen I’m a man in my 30s and have never really had a serious relationship – just lots of short-term affairs and one-night stands. My career has always come first, I suppose, but also I’ve never met a woman I could see myself moving in with and marrying. It’s never actually bothered me until recently as my job keeps me busy and I have a good social life too. But there was a definite connection and I think about her a lot. To cut a long story short, it turned out my friend’s girlfriend knows this woman and told me she’s now single. I haven’t seen her for a couple of weeks and I can’t get her out of my head. … [Read more...] about Dear Coleen: How do I tell gorgeous commuter I fancy her?
There was a headline a few years ago apropos of which ‘Noel Gallagher got so drunk with Bono he had to escape’. What was Noel escaping from? “Being f**king drunk!” he shrieks with laughter. It sounds like a scene from the movie Withnail & I, I joke. “No! No! No! [laughing] When you’ve had enough, you’ve had enough!” reflects Noel (who in 2000 jokingly told The Guardian that he has three pints of Guinness “and then falls over”.) The epically charismatic U2 star is probably not the easiest person to say goodnight to. Did Noel have to do a runner on Bono? “I did do a runner! I was staying at his house [laughing]. But he f***king knows how to throw a party. I’ll say that.” So does Noel Gallagher. His one-time mansion Supernova Heights in North London has long-since passed into Bacchanalian legend. “You know what? I only had that house for two and a half years.” Did Noel sell the house when he … [Read more...] about ‘I did a runner on Bono one night’
