A Canadian woman owes her life to the heavy rock group, Metallica, whose 1991 hit Don't Tread on Me scared off a hostile cougar. Dee Gallant encountered the wild cat during an evening stroll on Vancouver Island with her eight-year-old husky retriever, Murphy. "I thought I'd just take Murphy for a Iittle hike like we usually do," she told Canada Global News. "It was an evening so it started to get a bit dusky. We got a little ways up and I saw something watching me. "I looked off to my right, and there he was, just standing there, staring at me. "At first, I wasn't intimidated," she added. Travis Scott has provided 50,000 hot meals to Houston-area residents who are struggling in the aftermath of the Texas Freeze. The 29-year-old hitmaker made the charitable donation through a partnership between his charitable organization, the Cactus Jack Foundation, the City of Houston and the Houston Health Foundation. The city's mayor, Sylvester Turner, was also involved in organizing the relief effort. Lending a hand: Travis Scott has made a donation of 50,000 meals to Houston-area residents who have been affected by the inclement weather in Texas; the hitmaker is pictured in 2019 The rapper is currently working with community figures and other charitable foundations to provide more meals to at-risk residents living in a designated high-priority ZIP code. Veteran US radio presenter Rita Houston has died aged 59, with stars including Tom Jones sharing their sadness at her "great loss". The much-respected music champion died of ovarian cancer on December 15 at her home in Valley Cottage, New York state, her wife Laura Fedele confirmed to the New York Times. The Voice's Tom Jones shared his sadness, writing on Twitter : "The passing of @RitaHoustonWFUV is a great loss to artists and listeners alike. "She was a wonderful presenter who possessed not only great knowledge but natural intelligence, warmth, and good humour. She will be missed…RIP Rita." Rita was the program director at WFUV, a listener-supported station licensed to the private Fordham University in New York's Bronx neighbourhood. CORONATION Street’s Izzy Armstrong won’t return "for a while", it has been revealed. Actress Cherylee Houston is unable to return to the soap because she is being forced to shield at home. The 46-year-old was diagnosed with the rare connective tissue disorder, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome when she was 23. It makes her vulnerable to the effects of coronavirus so has had to delay her return to the soap, which she first joined in 2010. She told disappointed fans it'll be "a little while yet, I'm afraid" when they asked when she'll be back on their screens. One posted: “You are missed.” While another said: “I like Izzy! She doesn’t get enough good storylines.” A third added: “As long as the actors are safe that’s the main issue.” Viewers have often questioned if Cherylee had left the soap as she hasn’t been seen on screen since last spring.
