Thirty thousand troops live in ‘substandard accommodation’ after MoD refused to pay for £1.5bn worth of repairs
TENS of thousands of troops live in “substandard accommodation” after the MoD refused to pay for £1.5 billion worth of repairs. A scathing report by the National Audit Office found half the rooms in MoD barracks would fail to meet current building regs. And it warned a third of service personnel cited shoddy housing as a reason for leaving the Armed Forces. Meg Hillier, the Labour chair of the Public Accounts Committee, said: “These are the people we ask to go out and fight for our country. “The least they should be able to expect is a hot shower and a decent roof over their heads.” It found barracks were “decaying” after decades of under investment. Around 80,000 people – almost half the armed forces – live in Single Living Accommodation (SLA). DR ELLIE CANNON: What IS making my toes red, hot and tingly at night?
I suffer from burning-hot, tingly red toes which have got worse over this past year. It's particularly bad at night. The only thing that helps is keeping the house very cold, which upsets everyone else I live with. These are typical signs of what we call Grierson-Gopalan syndrome: a sensation of tingling and burning that might affect the soles of the feet, or the whole foot, ankles and even lower legs. A feeling of heaviness in the lower legs is also common, and it's usually worse at night. For many people the cause of Grierson-Gopalan syndrome is not known, but it may be linked to nerve damage, in particular something called peripheral neuropathy. People who've had diabetes for a long time are at risk of developing peripheral neuropathy as raised blood sugar, over time, damages the tiny blood vessels that supply the nerves. I suffer from burning-hot, tingly red toes which have got worse over this past year. It's particularly bad at night, one person asks DR ELLIE … [Read more...] about DR ELLIE CANNON: What IS making my toes red, hot and tingly at night?

Courtney told BirminghamLive : "The whole home was drenched from the hallway, to the front door, to the kitchen, to the bathroom. It was drenched.
