The 45-year-old was in his flat in Duddingston Row, Edinburgh, when two men wearing black balaclavas forced their way in at around 10.10pm on Tuesday April 30. He was hit on the ankle with an axe, suffering serious injury, and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. A red Honda CRV, bearing the false registration plate YH13 JCJ, was later found burnt-out in Gilmerton Dykes. Detectives said that following forensic examination, they are now satisfied it is the car used by the attackers. The vehicle had been stolen from an address in Craigour Crescent during the early hours of Wednesday March 27. A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after a teenage motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Oldham. The 17-year-old was due to undergoing surgery in hospital on Friday following the smash. Police say the boy's Kawasaki KMX 125 crashed with grey Honda CRV at a mini-roundabout at the junction of Salts Street and Glebe Street, near Beal Vale primary school in Shaw. He lost control of his bike and then hit a garden wall. A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries. Police are appealing for information and want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle in the area in the moments beforehand. The crash took place at 8.40pm. A trainee plumber tried to shake off police officers after he was stopped for drink-driving in Sutton, a court heard. Bryn Bull became aggressive on King's Mill Road, when his Honda CRV was pulled over, just after midnight, on March 17. The court heard he asked for a cigarette and there was pushing and shoving, which ended in him getting handcuffed. A test revealed he had 86 mcgs in 100 mls of breath, when the legal limit is 35 mcgs. Morgan Hogarth, mitigating, said Bull would face problems with the loss of his licence as he still needs to complete a plumbing qualification, and will struggle to travel to an apprenticeship offered to him in Newark."He cooperated at the station," Mr Hogarth added. Bull, 32, of Linby Avenue, Mansfield, admitted drink driving and resisting arrest, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Friday. Over its long history, Honda's CR-V has quietly become the world's best-selling SUV and this latest version doesn't look all that different to its predecessor, but it's still a big improvement.
