I accidentally moved in with a guy I barely knew in lockdown after just four dates – now I’m never flying home

· March 7, 2021 ·

THERE'S no denying that the coronavirus crisis has turned all our worlds upside down - but for Lauren Arris Cartwright, life is basically unrecognisable now. In March last year, the retail worker hopped on a plane from her home in Northern Ireland to visit a guy she'd been casually dating who lived in Manchester. Before the trip, Lauren, 27, had only been on four dates with Dan after they'd been introduced at a friend's wedding. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News , Lauren explained: "When driving to the airport on the Friday, my dad jokingly said 'you better come back on Monday'." However the following week, the UK went into total lockdown - and Lauren and Dan's found they'd accidentally jumped a few steps ahead in their relationship and spent months living in each other's pockets. "It was really hard at first," Lauren said. "All I had with me was just a few bits of clothing, makeup and my toothbrush – it really wasn’t ideal!" Unsurprisingly, Lauren found … [Read more...] about I accidentally moved in with a guy I barely knew in lockdown after just four dates – now I’m never flying home

My sister is 21 years older and had a daughter before I was even born – boyfriends were more scared to meet her than mum

· March 7, 2021 ·

BILLIONAIRE Bernie Ecclestone proved he is 90 years young when he announced he was going to become a father for the fourth time last year. There was already a yawning age gap between his first daughter Deborah, 66, from his first marriage to Ivy Bamford, and his other girls Tamara, 36, and Petra, 32, who he had with second wife Slavica. In July 2020, Bernie, who is also a grandad and great-grandfather, welcomed son Ace with his wife Fabiana Flossi, 44, at the  age of 89. While some have questioned whether the former chief executive of Formula One should be having more kids so late in life, Tamara has defended him. She said: “He’s a young soul and has an amazing energy. And with what’s going on (in the wider world), some baby news is good news.” So what will it be like to be old enough to be her brother’s mum? Here, women with big age gaps to their siblings tell Jenny Francis all about their unusual relationships. 'My boyfriends were more scared meeting Joanne than … [Read more...] about My sister is 21 years older and had a daughter before I was even born – boyfriends were more scared to meet her than mum

Austria SUSPENDS jabs with batch of Astra-Zeneca vaccine after one person died and another fell ill after taking the shots

· March 7, 2021 ·

Austria has suspended vaccinations with a batch of AstraZeneca's coronavirus jabs as a precaution following the death of one person and the illness of another after the shots. A 49-year-old woman died as a result of severe coagulation disorders, while another 35-year-old woman developed a pulmonary embolism, an acute lung disease caused by a dislodged blood clot, and is recovering, the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) said. The agency confirmed it had received two reports 'in a temporal connection' with a vaccine from the same batch in the district clinic of Zwettl, Lower Austria. · March 7, 2021 ·

If you're in the process of buying a home, then chances are you'll have been nervously waiting on Chancellor Rishi Sunak's every word last Wednesday to find out if the stamp duty holiday was being extended. In the end it turned out the leaks were true. The Chancellor extended the stamp duty holiday by three months . This matters because over 300,000 people were said to be stuck waiting for their home purchases to go through before the end of March. If the extension hadn't happened, then they could have been out of pocket. In fact, the stamp duty holiday was extended to the end of June, with further reduced discounts available to the end of September for people living in England and Northern Ireland. This has led to loads of readers contacting me to ask if this is a good time to buy a property.
