Live Updates Inflation in the United States has reached a 40-year high. The consumer price index rose 9.1 percent in a year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is the biggest yearly increase since the 8.6 percent jump in 1981. This inflation rate is ahead of the Federal Reserve's annual two percent target for inflation and may lead the Fed to raise interest rates again later this month. Republican lawmakers are blaming President Joe Biden, calling the latest economy report the "Biden Price Hike." This comes as average gas prices have dropped to $4.63. While prices have fallen in recent weeks, they remain much higher than this time last year. A criminal court in Bangkok is considering whether King Power International has a case to answer, according to Reuters news agency. The case is also being brought against executives of state-owned Airports of Thailand (AOT), Reuters says. The BBC has contacted Leicester City FC, King Power and AOT for comment. A single mother who has been hospitalised twice with malnutrition blames inflation for making it too costly to feed herself after feeding her two kids. Kelly Thomson, 43, says she can only afford to eat one meal a day on the £40 per week she has left over for the family’s food budget after paying bills on rent. To make matters worse, her Universal Credit payments leave her with just £120 a month to cover spending after rent and food. As a result of her diet, she has lost two stone in weight over the past 18 months and needed blood transfusions to bring her iron levels back to a safe level after going to hospital. TikTok has announced it will label content on “election-related” pages and add new policies related to political content ahead of the 2022 midterm elections .
