A LOVE Island star has revealed their surprising friendship with Darius Campbell Danesh, following his death aged 41. Amy Hart took to social media to pay tribute to the singer, after the news of his death on Tuesday. Gareth Gates has said he is ‘heartbroken’ following the death of his Pop Idol co-star Darius Campbell Danesh at the age of 41. The Anyone Of Us hitmaker starred with Campbell Danesh on the first series of Pop Idol in 2001, with the pair of them both reaching the finals alongside winner Will Young. Sharing a photo on Instagram, he wrote: ‘I can’t quite believe the news of my dear friend Darius passing. I’m heartbroken. ‘Darius took me under his wing during our time in Pop Idol, like a big brother; always looking out for me and for that I thank you my friend. ‘I will miss our chats. He was one of the most beautiful, intelligent and gentle souls I was lucky enough to know, a soul that lit up every room. ‘Good bye my friend. Forever in my heart x’. Simon Cowell has shared a tribute to ‘charismatic’ Darius Campbell Danesh after the musician died, aged 41. The Colourblind singer died on August 11 , with his family confirming the sad news earlier today. Following the announcement, a string of stars have remembered the late star on social media, including Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates .
