President Trump delivered a patriotic history lesson of the American military as stormy weather threatened the nation's capital on July 4. Mr. Trump honored some of the members of the military in the crowd, as well as different branches of the armed forces. "The future of the American future depends on the shoulders of men and women willing to defend it," Mr. Trump said. "Now is your chance to join our military and make truly great statement in life and you should do it."Mr. Trump also honored other notable Americans, some famous and others who were in the crowd. National treasure Olivia Colman has scooped a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The royal gong caps an awards-littered few months for the actress, 45, who claimed an Oscar and Bafta for The Favourite earlier this year. There were OBEs for Oliver's Army crooner Elvis Costello, chief scout Bear Grylls, and Good Wife star Cush Jumbo. Along with the famous names, the list also celebrates the efforts of those working to improve people's lives. I.M. Pei, the preeminent Chinese-American architect who forged a distinct brand of modern building design with his sharp lines and stark structures, has died. He was 102 years old. Pei was the mastermind behind the bold Louvre glass pyramid in Paris, the landmark 72-story Bank of China tower in Hong Kong and Doha's Museum of Islamic Art, works seen as embracing modernity tempered by a grounding in history.
