Royal Mail moves step closer to cutting Saturday letter deliveries
The spectre of Royal Mail letter deliveries being cut to five days a week moved one step closer after customers told the postal regulator they no longer needed a six-day service. Ofcom said Royal Mail, which is bound by a legal requirement to deliver letters six-days-a-week, must "modernise its network and become more efficient". Lindsey Fussell, Ofcom director, said: "Our research suggests that people's needs would still be met if letter deliveries were reduced from six days a week to five." The announcement will be a boon for Royal Mail, which raised the prospect of culling the Saturday service in September. The former FTSE 100 company, run by ex-British Airways chief Keith Williams, is trying to make significant changes to its strategy and working practices. Earlier this month it announced parcel revenues had overtaken letters for the first time. Reducing letter deliveries to weekdays, governed by the "Universal Service Obligation", will allow Royal Mail to … [Read more...] about Royal Mail moves step closer to cutting Saturday letter deliveries
Baby Keem Takes a Big Step on Kendrick Lamar’s
Photo: Allen J. Schaben/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images A good Kendrick Lamar feature can be a launchpad. Just ask a musician like Rapsody, whose star rose after she went toe to toe with K.Dot on To Pimp a Butterfly ’s “Complexion (A Zulu Love),” or Zacari, the singer who signed to Top Dawg Entertainment after smooth features on DAMN. and Lamar’s Black Panther soundtrack. Lamar’s latest, the long-awaited Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers , boasts one of the rapper’s more stacked guest lists with a verse from rap legend Ghostface Killah, a rare appearance by Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, a skit starring Zola ’s Taylour Paige, and three songs featuring rapper non grata Kodak Black, among others. But more than anyone, the person who best uses that Kendrick shine is the person he’s been working with the most of late: Baby Keem. Before Mr. Morale , Lamar’s biggest recent appearance since his 2018 Black Panther soundtrack was on Baby Keem’s debut album, The … [Read more...] about Baby Keem Takes a Big Step on Kendrick Lamar’s
How to travel with only carry-on luggage
Yes, you can travel for two weeks with carry-on luggage only, but preparation is the key, says former flight attendant and packing guru Cathy Perry, of Melbourne fashion label The Ark, theark.com.au STEP ONE Don't pack at the last minute: give yourself at least two weeks to pack your bag. Hang all the clothes you're considering on a rack, and try them on in front of a full-length mirror. Then look up the past few years' temperatures, because dry season isn't always dry. Also, many hot climates are freezing indoors thanks to air-conditioning, and the reverse, when it's freezing outside, it's overheated inside, so layering is the trick. Make sure all fabrics are travel friendly: are they drip-dry overnight, wash-and-wear, or do they need a travel iron? During lockdown I realised I wasn’t dealing with my body dysmorphia well – so I have made a change that helped
Prior to the coronavirus , I was at the peak of my newly adopted fitness journey. I was attending the gym regularly alongside a 9-to-5 unpaid work placement, and I felt good for it. Taking progress pictures, tracking my macros and treating myself on weekends had formed the basis of my new routine. But as someone who has struggled with body dysmorphia for almost eight years, lockdown has revealed to me that beneath the joy working out would give me, the deep-seated insecurities that have dominated a large part of my daily inner monologue had remained strong. As a teenager, my body was always something I was conscious of. I had always been physically active, as a member of a local rowing club from the age of 11 – training four days a week – and a swimmer before that. But it wasn’t until one of my best friends started to diet and skip meals, at 13 years of age, that I started to think deeper about the link between my physical appearance and my worth as a person, and … [Read more...] about During lockdown I realised I wasn’t dealing with my body dysmorphia well – so I have made a change that helped
