THIS Morning host Alison Hammond was left red-faced after her boobs went flying in a terrifying high-speed car race. The 47-year-old suffered a wardrobe malfunction with Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo at Silverstone. Alison screamed as he sped round the track with her in the passenger's seat. Tuesday morning news briefing: General says UK must be ready for war
The head of the Army today says the UK must be ready for war with Russia. Four months on from Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, General Sir Patrick Sanders is set to compare the assault to the rise of Nazi Germany . He will say that Britain is facing its "1937 moment" and must be ready to "fight and win" to ward off the threat from Russia. In his first public speech as Chief of the General Staff , Sir Patrick will say the UK must be prepared to "act rapidly" to contain Russian expansionism. Nato last night pledged to massively increase its forces available on high alert to more than 300,000 troops, a more-than seven-fold increase. Platinum Jubilee: Queen triggers lighting of Jubilee beacons across UK
The Queen has made her second appearance of the day as she triggered the lighting of the principal Jubilee beacon at Windsor Castle. At the same time thousands of beacons were lit in villages, towns and cities across the UK to honour the Queen's 70-year reign. Her Majesty started the ceremony from the quadrangle at Windsor Castle, with the Duke of Cambridge representing his grandmother, alongside other members of the Royal Family, at Buckingham Palace, the site of the "Tree of Trees" principal beacon. Although traditionally the principal beacon would be set on fire, this year it took the form of a near-70ft light installation. At Windsor Castle, the Queen, wearing a green jacket, gloves and glasses, pressed the quadrangle to start the lighting of the Jubilee. As she walked from the castle's sovereign entrance into the Quadrangle, the Queen was greeted by more than 100 people who live within the walls of the royal home and were invited to the event. Chief Yeoman … [Read more...] about Platinum Jubilee: Queen triggers lighting of Jubilee beacons across UK
How bottom trawling hurts ocean life and speeds up climate change
When Bryce Stewart dived after the toothed, steel-weighted nets of a scallop dredger rumbling over the bottom of the Irish Sea 22 years ago, he witnessed destruction he could never have seen from a boat. "Half crabs. Smashed up sea urchins. Starfish missing some of their arms," said Stewart, a marine ecologist at the University of York. "There was literally a trail of dead and dying things on the seabed." Bottom trawling — a powerful practice in which heavy nets are dragged along the floor of the ocean to catch fish and seafood — is one of the most harmful ways to feed the world. It destroys ecosystems and sweeps up unwanted marine life that gets thrown overboard. From 1950 to 2014, bottom trawlers discarded $560 billion of bycatch, which was more than the value of all catches from longline fishers over the same period. Metal bars and toothed nets wreak havoc on ocean ecosystems Now scientists fear another environmental disaster bubbling under the surface: climate … [Read more...] about How bottom trawling hurts ocean life and speeds up climate change
