MAYWOOD, Calif. — A California high school teacher was arrested after video surfaced of him allegedly punching one of his students who used a racial epithet, CBS Los Angeles reports. Marston Riley, 64, was released Saturday from the Los Angeles County Jail after posting $50,000 bail, according to sheriff's inmate records. Cellphone video showed Riley fighting with the student during band class at Maywood Academy High School. The teacher can be seen repeatedly hitting the student, and at one point, using an object to hit him. The student was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and released, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "I was scared for the kid, and partly for the teacher too," a student who witnessed the fight told CBS Los Angeles. Tributes have been paid to a former Worthing High School teacher who ‘taught so much more than just history’. Sally Anne Wallbridge passed away last Saturday (October 13) at the age of 66.The Wick resident was a history teacher at Worthing High for more than 30 years and started at the school as Miss Clarke, before meeting her future husband Frank Wallbridge. The couple were married for 26 years.“Besides being my wife, she was my friend,” said Frank. “Really, she was a friend to everybody.”Sally left Worthing High in 2010 but colleague and family friend Paul Kaczmarek said many pupils had stayed in contact or sought her out later in life.Her impact, he said, stretched beyond her specialist subject.“Sally was more than just a history teacher,” said Paul.“She was a teacher of children. The family of a retired Kineton High School teacher who died after being hit by a car has paid tribute to her. Marlene Sandra Head, 69, was struck by a car as she crossed Camberwell Terrace, Leamington, on Thursday, September 27. STAFF and pupils at South Bromsgrove High School bid a fond farewell to one of the much-loved teachers who is retiring after 39 years, writes Olivia Warburton. Quintin Watt, known as Quint to friends, was the head of history at the high school before deciding to start working part-time. A spokesperson for the school said his knowledge and love for the subject inspired many students over the years.
