Leeds captain Liam Cooper sent off for high tackle on Man City’s Gabriel Jesus as fans fume at overturned decision

· April 10, 2021 ·

LEEDS fans were left incensed by Andre Marriner's decision to send off Liam Cooper during their stunning victory over Manchester City. Their skipper was dismissed for a high challenge on Gabriel Jesus, having initially been booked before VAR upgraded the punishment. With the West Yorkshire side winning 1-0 just before half-time, Cooper was shown a yellow card for fouling Jesus . The defender did get the ball but was reckless, catching the Brazilian's right knee with his studs. Referee Marriner initially awarded a yellow card for the challenge but was informed by the VAR official to have a second look. Having watched the slowed-down footage, Marriner upgraded Cooper's punishment to a red card. Leeds' hopes of a shock win against the champions-elect appeared to have gone in the 75th minute when Ferran Torres equalised. But a 91st minute strike from Stuart Dallas, who scored the opener just moments before Cooper was sent off, secured all three points for … [Read more...] about Leeds captain Liam Cooper sent off for high tackle on Man City’s Gabriel Jesus as fans fume at overturned decision

Liverpool 2 Aston Villa 1: Trent Alexander-Arnold hits injury-time stunner in front of England boss Gareth Southgate

· April 10, 2021 ·

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD ended Liverpool's recent Kop curse with a dramtic stoppage time winner - in front of watching England boss Gareth Southgate. The much-criticised England defender pounced after Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez produced a breathtaking save to deny Thiago, only for the ball to land at the full-back's feet at the edge of the penalty area. One touch with his right boot was followed by an almighty thump with the same boot and the ball flew beyond Martinez to end the Reds embarrassing six-game losing streak. It was the perfect way for TAA to stick two fingers up to his critics who have savaged him for his recent below-par displays. Although the Liverpool lad is too polite to include Southgate in that, despite the England boss giving him the cold shoulder for the Three Lions' recent world cup qualifiers. In a day of high drama Ollie Watkins gave Villa the lead before half-time before Liverpool thought they equalised immediately, only for another VAR … [Read more...] about Liverpool 2 Aston Villa 1: Trent Alexander-Arnold hits injury-time stunner in front of England boss Gareth Southgate

How to know when you’ve had too much of a good thing – from water to sunscreen

· April 10, 2021 ·

Many of us worry we’re not drinking enough water, exercising enough or getting enough vitamins but sometimes we can overdo it. Natasha Holt asks the experts how to know when you’ve gone too far. Salad “Salad leaves are an excellent low-calorie food. That said, you can’t get by on the green stuff alone,” says Sophie Medlin, dietitian and director atcitydietitians.co.uk. “Salad cannot provide us with all the nutrients we need to live healthily, such as protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. Too much can also disrupt digestion and, in extreme cases, make it harder to absorb other important nutrients such as iron. “Make sure you’re keeping your salads balanced by adding things like avocado, olive oil or nuts and seeds and some protein such as chicken, fish, eggs or tofu. "If salad is making up more than 50 per cent of your diet it’s time to rethink.” Water The idea that we need to be drinking eight glasses of water a day has led to many of us thinking you can’t get … [Read more...] about How to know when you’ve had too much of a good thing – from water to sunscreen

Luis Suarez ‘could seal shock Liverpool transfer return in summer over frustrations with Simeone’s Atletico tactics’

· April 10, 2021 ·

LUIS SUAREZ could make a shock return to Liverpool, according to reports. The Atletico Madrid forward, 34, is understood to be frustrated with Diego Simeone's tactics. Spanish outlet Todofichajes state the pair have a 'difficult' relationship which could result in the striker leaving - with a clause in his contract enabling him to leave this summer with no penalty. And the report adds Suarez could be open to a transfer back to Liverpool, seven years after leaving Anfield for Barcelona. However, David Beckham's Inter Miami could be another potential suitor with an MLS swansong an option. After 198 goals in 283 appearances for the Catalan giants, he left in acrimonious circumstances last summer. The four-time LaLiga winner signed for Atletico on a two-year, £5.5million deal and hit the ground running. He has 19 goals this season as Simeone's side sit top of the table and he chases the golden boot. But the high-pressing, energetic style means Suarez feels … [Read more...] about Luis Suarez ‘could seal shock Liverpool transfer return in summer over frustrations with Simeone’s Atletico tactics’
