A teenage bodybuilder who wanted to become the new Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson died instantly when an artery burst in his chest, an inquest heard. Andrej Gajdos, 19, collapsed outside a Tesco supermarket in his home town of Weston-super-Mare when his thoracic aorta ruptured. The Slovakian born teenager had worked out twice a day and used steroids to grow his enormous 7ft 2ins frame to 19 stone of lean muscle. ‘He was loved and known by many people, each with their own story to tell,’ his family wrote on a fundraising page that raised £4,000 to pay for his burial. ‘Andrej was a very keen bodybuilder with aspirations to become the new Rock… he will never reach that height now.’ MORE : These guys are making your grandmother’s china incredibly dirty Gajdos’ drug abuse contributed to his enlarged heart – which was 50 per cent bigger than average. I’m on a mission to make sure every new parent regularly measures their baby’s head
Watching Harry scooting up and down our street with his best friend Bella is magical. You would never guess that the first year of Harry’s life was a whirlwind of blue-light emergencies, brain surgeries, and unimaginable fear. You would never think that, under his mop of unruly blonde hair is a shunt – a device which drains the fluid from his brain, and keeps him alive. Harry is my fourth child, and my pregnancy with him was actually my easiest. I had mild gestational diabetes (GD), which was controlled by diet, but other than that I actually glowed. While I was pregnant, I was scanned every four weeks from 20 weeks onwards, which is common for pregnant people with GD. At 36 weeks, my husband and I walked into the scan room. We were calm, expecting a routine appointment. However, about five minutes in, the sonographer went quiet. She then said she needed to get someone else, so we waited. Another lady came in, said nothing and then, after what felt like forever, … [Read more...] about I’m on a mission to make sure every new parent regularly measures their baby’s head
Prince Harry joins Hamilton cast, pretends to be king – then says “not going to happen”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle threw themselves into their royal duties Wednesday, attending a special performance of the hit musical Hamilton in London, with the prince briefly treading the boards himself. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Hamilton creator Lin Manuel-Miranda at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London for a charity performance of the Alexander Hamilton biographical. After the show, Harry took to the stage to address the audience and cast members, the BBC reported. One of the characters in the show is British King George III. While speaking to the audience after the show, Harry began to sing one of George III's songs—"You'll Be Back"—in which the monarch warns colonial rebels they will regret their uprising and "remember you belong to me." The prince quickly stopped, assuring attendees, "That's definitely not going to happen." According to Sky News, Miranda spoke to reporters ahead of the performance, noting, "The prince's sixth-great-grandfather is a … [Read more...] about Prince Harry joins Hamilton cast, pretends to be king – then says “not going to happen”
Meghan Markle’s dad called the British royal family a cult like “Scientologists or Stepford family”
Despite having vowed to stop discussing the royal family, Meghan Markle's father likened his daughter's in-laws to a cult during an interview with The Sun newspaper. "They are either like Scientologists or the Stepford family," Thomas Markle said. "If they hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up!" Calling the royal family "cult-like," Thomas Markle suggested he still hasn't been able to reach the Duchess of Sussex because her new family operated like the Church of Scientology. "They are secretive," he said. "They close the door, pull the shades down and put their fingers in their ears so they don't have to hear." He added: "Maybe they have a secret handshake too! You cannot ask a question of them—as they won't answer." In a series of previous interviews, the 74-year-old retired Hollywood lighting director said he had not spoken to his daughter since she married Prince Harry in May. He suggested her phone number had changed since he last … [Read more...] about Meghan Markle’s dad called the British royal family a cult like “Scientologists or Stepford family”

Remarkable friendships from the animal world
In the leafy Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey lies a very different kind of farm: the astonishing Funny Farm, a not-for-profit animal sanctuary open to the public two days a week, created by New Jersey's own Doctor Doolittle, Laurie Zaleski. Every animal here is a rescue – abused, abandoned, disabled – and Zaleski has healed and protected more than 600 animals over the last 20 years, from retired racehorses to raucous roosters. "We have 115 roosters," she said. And it sounded like it! Correspondent Lesley Stahl asked, "For those people who have never been here, never even heard of the Funny Farm, how would you describe it?" "I say Heaven on Earth, especially for animals," Zaleski replied. "And for people, because when you walk through the gates, you can feel the inner peace and harmony, because they all get along here. "My mother had the original Funny Farm, and she said it's full of animals and fit for lunatics!" laughed Zaleski. As she writes in her book, "Funny Farm: … [Read more...] about Remarkable friendships from the animal world
PETER HITCHENS: Is there no way to stop the secret brainwashing of the next generation?
I will always remember the day they took away the history books. My small boarding school, on a rain-lashed Devon hilltop, had until that day taught us about the glory and grandeur of English history. It was a story of courage, freedom and the defeat of foreign threats. But these volumes, their pages soft from use, their illustrations in wistful black and white, were no longer acceptable. They were gathered up and carted off. Instead, we were given glossy, brightly-coloured replacements with larger print and supposedly exciting photographs of a brave new world. Luckily for me, the change came just too late. I had already absorbed all the old stuff and I would never be able to regard the 1945 Labour Government as being as exciting or interesting as the Battle of Trafalgar. I thought then, as I think now, that this country had indeed had a Glorious Revolution in 1688. Significantly, it was about the same time that they began to inflict the ‘New Maths’ on us – but once again I had … [Read more...] about PETER HITCHENS: Is there no way to stop the secret brainwashing of the next generation?
