Never let a good opportunity to bash Britain go to waste: that, it would seem, remains the EU’s guiding foreign policy principle. In a staggeringly ill-timed act of revanchism from apparatchiks still seething from the humiliation meted upon them in 2016, Brussels is about to force Britain to tear up the Northern Ireland Protocol , potentially triggering a vicious trade war and, in extremis, a complete breakdown in diplomatic relations. Why such self-destructive stupidity, such demented short-termism, at a time when the war in Ukraine, rampant inflation and the global economic calamity ought to be the only priority? Emmanuel Macron’s latest European vision, which includes a provision for Britain to join a new EU-lite outer circle, provides us with a helpful clue. It sometimes feels as if the French president, his Napoleonesque delusions reawakened by his election victory , harks back to the days of the Expédition d’Irlande, when revolutionary France sent 12,000 troops to the aid … [Read more...] about Brexit Britain can defeat the EU’s vicious attempt at trade war blackmail

French gourmands welcome the American burger
(CBS News) Remember that old advertising slogan "Where's The Beef?" In French, that translates to "Ou est le Boeuf?" . . . a question we've posed to David Turecamo, Our Man In Paris: Voila! The latest craze in French dining - hamburgers! The French used to think they were an American scourge - food without flavor or finesse. But they're beginning to see that, gee, even a hamburger can be gourmet. Ask Victor Garnier. He created Blend, a restaurant dedicated to the gourmet burger, and he did his research criss-crossing America. "Starting in Los Angeles with a backpack, and my only goal was to eat hamburgers," Garnier said. He'd only been open a month, and the wait for a table was 30-45 minutes. Then there's Le Camion qui Fume, "The Smoking Truck" - the first gourmet food truck ever in Paris, where people wait an hour to an hour-and-a-half. It's the invention of Kristen Frederick from L.A. "I try to get the most authentic American burger possible," she said, "and … [Read more...] about French gourmands welcome the American burger

GOP Senator Slams Biden For ‘Waging War’ On The Economy, Not Putting Americans First | The Daily Wire
Tennessee Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty slammed President Joe Biden on Sunday for waging war on the economy and not putting Americans first. Hagerty shared the blistering remarks during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. “I’ll be a no on the package, Maria,” Hagerty said about an additional $40 billion aid package under consideration for Ukraine. “We’ve got to look at our own national security first,” he added. “We’re not taking care of our own country.” Hagerty instead focused on Biden’s own war against American industry. “The best thing Biden administration could do is stop the war that he’s waged on American industry. That would lower prices overall. That would take the funding away from Putin’s war machine against Ukraine and make our economy better here. Biden will not do that, and he’s taken us in a bad direction,” he said. Hagerty sympathized with Ukraine’s situation despite his plan to vote against the latest effort, noting … [Read more...] about GOP Senator Slams Biden For ‘Waging War’ On The Economy, Not Putting Americans First | The Daily Wire
