PARENTS have been urged to be on the lookout for signs of a dangerous Victorian illness as cases continue to rise. Infections of scarlet fever have increased in recent weeks, and health chiefs have warned Brits to be 'vigilant'. Data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has revealed that Derbyshire has seen a spike in infections, with 53 being detected in the last four weeks alone. In the last eight weeks, there has been 103 cases in the area, with experts claiming the jump could be down to low immunity levels. By Soutik Biswas and Aparna Alluri Published 13 July 2021 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, has unveiled a controversial bill for curbing population growth. GP exodus will leave a quarter of posts empty within a decade
The exodus of general practitioners could mean a quarter of posts will be vacant within a decade, new analysis suggests. The Health Foundation think tank called for urgent action as it published a forecast showing there could be thousands of vacancies across England. It found the current shortage of 4,200 full-time equivalent GPs in England is set to rise to 10,700 in 2030-31. The analysts said this could mean more than one in four of the 37,800 GP posts needed to deliver pre-pandemic standards of care would be vacant. Under a worst-case scenario, up to half of posts could be vacant and the projected shortfall could rise to more than 20,000. The researchers warned that shortages of GPs could pose a significant risk to the quality of care patients receive . It was also estimated there could be 6,400 nursing vacancies in GP surgeries by 2030/31. The Health Foundation analysis suggested the Government is unlikely to reach its 2019 manifesto target of hiring … [Read more...] about GP exodus will leave a quarter of posts empty within a decade

June temperatures ‘well above average’ in North Island; more rain for many western, inland areas
JOHN BISSET/STUFF The residents of Ōmārama woke to one of the heaviest snow falls in recent years on June 13. Temperatures were at least 1.2C above average across most of the North Island during June, while there was more rain in many western and inland areas of the country. “It was especially wet in inland parts of Otago and Canterbury, and Tauranga, where rainfall totals were about double the June average, Niwa said in its Monthly Climate Summary for June, published on Tuesday. With more airflow than usual from the northwest, rainfall was less than 79% of normal, or even less than half of normal, for eastern parts of both the North and South Island, Niwa said. The airflows from the northwest, along with warmer than usual sea surface temperatures were likely the cause of relative warmth throughout the country. When TikTok user @fortdefiance put her house on the market, a sneaky shower was probably the last thing she expected from potential buyers. In a clip shared on July 1, the homeowner explained that someone viewing the house had decided to take the tub for a test run. "Just got back to my house after a showing," she said in the video. "Walk into the bathroom and there's a spot on the floor. i know I just cleaned this. Somebody got in the tub, which I painstakingly scrubbed." Luckily, she saw the funny side of the situation, bursting into laughter. However, the bathroom wasn't the only room they'd decided to try before buying. "I'm pretty sure somebody got in my bed," she continued, before pointing to a bench that was also askew. Further exploration showed that the viewers actually tried all three beds, as well as the sofa. "Hope you guys had fun," she giggled, concluding her … [Read more...] about Internet shocked by what potential buyers did to bath during house viewing
