TWO alleged internet touts raked in nearly £11million in two years reselling top gig and show tickets, a court heard. Peter Hunter and David Smith are said to have used computer bots to harvest 30,000 tickets to sell on at inflated prices. They are accused of targeting Ed Sheeran gigs, West End hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the Chelsea Flower Show. Hunter, 51, and Smith, 56, trading as Ticket Wiz and BZZ, were “dishonest fraudsters motivated by greed”, the jury was told. Leeds crown court heard they “harvested the tickets in large numbers” then sold them on secondary sites including Viagogo, Get Me In, StubHub and Seatwave. Jonathan Sandiford, prosecuting, said: “They were effectively internet ticket touts who exploited the love many people have for their favourite artists and bands in order to milk them for profit.”MOST READ IN UK NEWSExclusiveWHO DARED WON SAS hero who led charge into Kenya hotel during terror siege to get top … [Read more...] about Two men accused of raking in £11million by using computer bots to resell gig tickets at inflated prices

In 1983, millions of unsold cartridges of the Atari game ET The Extra Terrestrial were secretly buried in a concrete-covered landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Thanks to extremely rushed development and alleged interference from Universal Pictures, the movie tie-in was one of the worst video games ever made, and a mass grave was the only option for the poor, unwanted cartridges. Unfortunately, like movies adapted from games, games adapted from movies are often bad. (There are exceptions: 1997’s 2D sidescrolling interpretation of Disney’s Hercules on PlayStation brought me more joy than most recent games.) Historically, this has not been the result of too much interference from the movie studios that own the licences, but too little. Promising pop-culture properties such as Transformers, Robocop and Harry Potter have often been farmed out to contracted development studios that are then given far too little time to make anything half decent. The forthcoming Star Wars Jedi: … [Read more...] about Can Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order help fans feel the Force?
Bloodborne’s horror, at a glance, approaches cliché. Yharnam, the city in which Hidetaka Miyazaki’s latest game is centered, is beleaguered with plague, its streets all grime and squalor. Bodies pile in sodden sacks, flies buzz around horse carcasses, while a pram, that beloved prop of the Hollywood set designer, lays on its side at the doors to a forsaken church. There are few places of sanctuary any more for the remaining healthy locals, who tremble and pace inside their homes, under an everlasting curfew, away from the terrors that roam outside their doors. We’ve seen many of those freaks and mutants before too. There are the rabid Doberman and hoe-wielding peasants of Resident Evil. There are the fat crows of Hitchcock’s The Birds. Even the soul-sucking Death Eaters of Harry Potter are hinted at. Jack the Ripper would certainly be at home here in the nooks and crannies of Yharnam’s Gothic sprawl; its cobblestones are ever slicked with Saw-like … [Read more...] about Bloodborne review – elegant, precise and irresistible
