Warning: Spoilers for the final episode of Derry Girls ahead. Derry Girls fans have been left astonished by quite the unexpected cameo as the beloved Channel 4 series bowed out in style. To see out the third and final series of the comedy, Channel 4 aired an extended special set around the Good Friday Agreement – and it did not disappoint. While our old friend Liam Neeson popped up again in what was one of the most emotional moments of the series, as the characters voted in the historic referendum in 1998, the episode ended by cutting to present-day New York. We see a mailman knock on the door to a townhouse, explaining that a letter had been addressed to the White House years ago and had finally made its way to the recipient – none other than Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea takes in the mail with a smile and starts reading the letter that the main characters – Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), Orla (Louisa … [Read more...] about Derry Girls fans stunned by incredible cameo to see out beloved series

Jamie Oliver wants to ban cheap junk food deals during a cost of living crisis? Frankly, he can BOGOF
I’ve always had my doubts about Jamie Oliver’s ideas for tackling obesity. Back in 2015 he argued that fizzy drinks should carry a label saying how many teaspoons of sugar they contain. He believed this would encourage shoppers to buy the drinks that contained the least sugar. Really? I’d have thought it would be the other way round. “Ooh, look at this label. You get a lot more sugar for your money with Coca-Cola. This Dr Pepper’s only got six teaspoons; what a rip-off.” I mean, that’s pretty much how I buy wine. “This bottle’s only 12 per cent ABV, whereas this other one’s 14.5 per cent. Bargain.” But Oliver is nothing if not persistent. Three years later, at a parliamentary select committee, he told MPs that, instead of Frosties, Tony the Tiger should be used to promote healthier cereals like Shreddies and Weetabix. A lovely thought. The only problem is, Tony the Tiger is a registered trademark of Kellogg’s, whereas Shreddies is made by Nestlé and Weetabix is made by Weetabix … [Read more...] about Jamie Oliver wants to ban cheap junk food deals during a cost of living crisis? Wayne Rooney brands Jamie Vardy a “bottler” for not taking stand in Wagatha trial
Wayne Rooney has reportedly called Jamie Vardy a “bottler” for not taking to the witness stand in the ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial. Both former England stars have accompanied their wives to court after Coleen Rooney accused Rebekah Vardy of leaking information from her private Instagram account to the press in October 2019. And with Rebekah, 40, suing Coleen for libel at London’s High Court, Wayne has defended his wife by giving evidence at the trial. Yet Leicester City forward Vardy has not given evidence himself despite appearing in court as of Wednesday. And The Sun claims Manchester United legend Rooney believes Vardy has “bottled” it. A source told the paper: “Wayne feels Jamie bottled it by not going on to the witness stand and saying what he wanted to say under oath. That way he could have been cross-examined like Wayne was on the truth of what he was saying. “Instead he just said whatever he wanted outside court and disappeared with Becky — who the court was … [Read more...] about Wayne Rooney brands Jamie Vardy a “bottler” for not taking stand in Wagatha trial
Blue’s Lee Ryan recalls horrific diarrhoea incident during Eurovision performance
Lee Ryan, a member of Blue, admitted he suffered an unfortunate incident when the boyband appeared on the Eurovision in 2011. The All Rise hitmakers represented Great Britain at the annual event, but it didn't go as planned for Lee who mistimed a trump and ended up with a bad case of diarrhoea. Lee, along with fellow Blue members Duncan James, Simon Webb and Anthony Costa, reunited for a virtual reunion as they watched Netflix's new film, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. Discussing their time on the world-famous singing contest, the boys recalled the incident which saw Lee make quite the mark. Duncan said to Lee: "Remember when you had diarrhoea and farted and followed through in the car and it stank the whole car out?" And the incident has clearly plagued Lee's memory ever since. "I didn't just follow through, it went all up my back," Lee replied. But his accident wasn't the only thing Lee remembered as the … [Read more...] about Blue’s Lee Ryan recalls horrific diarrhoea incident during Eurovision performance
Wagatha Christie? More like Chavatha Christie
“Trashier and trashier,” said Alice. The libel case of Vardy v Rooney at the Royal Courts of Justice is supposedly a rich source of entertainment, which has “captured the public imagination”. Has it? Sorry, but it fills me with a kind of weary disgust. When I look at Coleen Rooney, wife of ex-England captain Wayne, and Rebekah, partner of Leicester City striker Jamie, I see two fishwives screaming abuse at each other. Although that’s probably unfair to fishwives, who would have more sense than to blow an estimated £3 million during a national cost of living crisis over whether Rebekah did or didn’t tittle tattle to the papers about Coleen. They call it Wagatha Christie because Mrs Rooney cunningly drip-fed fake gossip to Mrs Vardy and waited to see it appear in print before exposing the villain. Chavatha Christie, more like. For all their Gucci loafers and Chanel handbags, the footballers’ wives are premier league vulgarians. This dim, deluded pair signal their status through … [Read more...] about Wagatha Christie? Inside double life of Ted Bundy-obsessed rocker who killed Bobbi-Anne, 18, after prowling for girls ‘who looked like ex’
SLAIN Bobbi-Anne McLeod's depraved killer led a double life as a Ted Bundy-obsessed rocker who prowled the moors for girls who looked like his ex. Cody Ackland, 24, gave pals the impression he was a fun-loving Indie rocker at his happiest when playing guitar to adoring fans. But in reality, the monster had a chilling obsession with Bundy, who was responsible for murdering more than 30 young women over a four-year reign of terror in the US in the 1970s. Ackland was today caged for life with a minimum of 31 years after abducting Bobbi-Anne from a bus stop near her home in Plymouth and bludgeoning her to death. He had never met the innocent teen before and simply chose her at random as she "looked similar to his ex-girlfriend". It comes as... The final plot twist in Wagatha Christie? No one can possibly win
Turn down the sound in Court 13 and stare upon its cold stone walls; its towering leaded light windows; its ornate oak panelling and wrought iron chandeliers. Observe the grandiose men in their gowns and wigs and one sees a fully formed tableau of an entirely Dickensian world. At the end of cases that have borne every outward resemblance to this one, it would not have been uncommon to see an unfortunate man transported to Botany Bay for life for the theft of a loaf of bread. The grand oak clock high up on its walls has turned through 150 years or more. If it contained a photographic camera, the roll of film within would scarcely have recorded the change of actual centuries of human life. That the set of this mad drama has not been redressed since the days of the workhouse only makes the script more startling. The clipped tones of public school barristers have rung around this room forever. They have never before been called in to arbitrate over what amounts to very little … [Read more...] about The final plot twist in Wagatha Christie? No one can possibly win
Antony Blinken backs Taiwan’s bid to break China’s 6-year WHO blockade
The United States has thrown its weight behind Taiwan 's bid to take part in the World Health Organization's World Health Assembly (WHA) this month, an annual effort that has been stymied by China for the last six years. Taiwan isn't a U.N. member state and therefore doesn't have regular access to its special agencies, but it has been granted non-voting observer status in the past. Between 2009 and 2016, when a party favored by Beijing returned to power in Taipei, Taiwanese health experts participated in the yearly gathering of the WHO 's decision-making body without issue. However, that privilege ended following the May 2016 inauguration of Tsai Ing-wen, a technocratic president whose election marked Taiwan's turn away from closer ties with China in favor of stronger relations with fellow democracies, and further highlighted the ideological differences between the two nations . The Chinese government's precondition for Taiwanese participation in the WHA, and other forums … [Read more...] about Antony Blinken backs Taiwan’s bid to break China’s 6-year WHO blockade
