If fresh looks with hair off the face were in this summer (and necessary due to the heat), this autumn is all about the opposite. BaByliss predicts the return of the face-framing fringe , which is a heavy, hair-on-the-skin, rocker style of cut. This isn’t a dainty neatly-cut fringe, this one is built into layers – almost like a baby shag cut. Just how heavy you go with it is up to you, as it can be adapted to frame the face in a softer way. BaByliss stylist, Syd Hayes, tells Metro.co.uk: ‘The face-framing fringe works differently – think about a 70s fringe. ‘The corners by the edge of the eyebrow are left longer giving an arch shape, then the layers behind the fringe have to work back so they flow into the rest of the haircut. ‘So when you grab your hair and take it up into a ponytail you have a softness that sits around your face and jawline.’ This can be a flattering haircut on all hair types, straight or textured, as long as the transition from fringe to … [Read more...] about The face-framing fringe is back – experts share how to nail the cut

The most important, truthful things you should know about bulimia nervosa
There’s a lot of misconception around eating disorders and the noticing of signs or symptoms of one. Bulimia nervosa is one disorder that is frequently misinterpreted, especially within the film industry. You often see actresses playing the role of someone who suffers with bulimia, but I feel they don’t portray all aspects of the disorder. Often the actresses are extremely thin and exercise freaks; women who control every aspect of their life and feel the need to also control their food. Women who are seen to be throwing up after every plate of food – if they are ever actually eating a plate of food – and women who choose to live off a couple of nuts a day. I can’t help but feel the film industry just got it so, so wrong. Of course, some aspects in films like Kate’s Secret are correct, but I feel they were not perceived in the correct light. I think it’s important to address a few things that are often missed out among people’s perceptions of bulimia. Here’s some … [Read more...] about The most important, truthful things you should know about bulimia nervosa

‘I feel sexier than ever after ditching the razor and embracing my beard’
The moment Dakota Cooke, now 30, hit puberty, she noticed masses of hair growth on her face. Soon enough, she was committed to having weekly waxing appointments and shaving their face twice a day in an effort to look more feminine. Dakota spent years feeling judged and insecure about her hair growth, and fell into a decade of anxiety and low self-esteem. Despite going for several tests, it’s unclear what caused Dakota’s facial hair, but doctors believe it to be something to do with her adrenal glands producing elevated levels of testosterone. The circus performer said: ‘When I hit puberty at 13, I guess I got hit with a little bit extra. ‘It started out with peach fuzz on my face that started to get longer and dark. ‘A friend of the family pointed it out at the time, so my step dad took me to the doctors to do tests, and then took me to the hair salon where I had my first ever wax. ‘It was super uncomfortable, and at the time, I was just about learning how to … [Read more...] about ‘I feel sexier than ever after ditching the razor and embracing my beard’
