A playground where dogs can jump on bouncy castles and in ball pools is opening in Greater Manchester. Bark n Bounce will feature an 18ft by 18ft bouncy castle, a 15ft bouncy slide, ball pools, paddling pools and plenty of toys for pooches to play with in a secure field. It's being launched by Harley Chester at her boarding kennels and cattery, Keepers, in Boothstown, Salford. "I wanted something to do with my own dogs," she said. "I looked around and there was only really day care centres where you have to leave your dog, or serious things like agility. "I just thought it would be something a little bit different and a fun day out." Owners will be able to stay and play with their dogs at Bark n Bounce, which will be open at weekends to begin with. Only small to medium dogs - up to the size of a cocker spaniel - will be allowed and they must be friendly with other dogs. Larkhall 8-ball pool ace Scott Gillespie achieved a personal milestone last month when he won the European Championships. Gillespie (33) who won the World title last November, went into the competition in Bridlington as part of Team Scotland but the individual competition ran alongside that. The Scottish team lost 13-8 to Malta in the semi-final, leaving Scott as a hope in the singles event. From a strong field of about 150 players, and a very tough draw, Scott racked up creditable wins over Dean Shields, Lee Killen, Jake Dylan Newlove and Craig Marsh, putting him into a final showdown with Jordan Evetts, which went to a final frame. The eyes of the sporting world will once again be on Leicester when the city welcomes the planet’s best professional pool players. Elite stars from dozens of countries will vie for glory when the 3,000-capacity Morningside Arena – home of the Leicester Riders Basketball team, next to Abbey Park – hosts the 2019 World Cup of Pool, next month. Billed as one of 9-ball pool’s blue riband events and promoted by Matchroom Sport, the six-day tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and networks around the world. It will be the first half of a professional sport double bill for the venue, formerly known at the Leicester Arena, which has also been chosen to stage The PDC Paddy Power Champions League of Darts in the autumn.
