Footballer Peter Crouch got married there, and the likes of Guns N' Roses and Michael Jackson have stayed there. Stapleford Park Country Hotel, near Melton, is well known for its celebrity-pleasing, luxurious surroundings. It’s also known for its food, from traditional afternoon teas in the English Drawing Room, to three course meals in the 2 AA Rosette Grinling Gibbons Restaurant. And who wouldn't want to visit an award-winning restaurant in such a beautiful location? We were keen to do so, but without the expense of the a la carte menu. So, at £25.50 for two courses or £32.50 for three courses, we thought the Sunday lunch offering sounded like an affordable option. Venue Wow. You can’t fail to be impressed by this luxurious four star venue, comprising a beautiful Grade I listed house and equally wonderful 500 acres of grounds - which were designed by English landscape architect Capability Brown. The property dates back to the 14th century, and having previously … [Read more...] about Review: How to dine out like a celebrity for less

Alden Woods Arizona Republic Published 2:00 PM EDT Oct 30, 2018 TUCSON — Maybe he’ll fly again, so Mark Kelly tries to stay in near-astronaut shape. He turns down TV requests if they interfere with his workouts and searches his schedule for afternoons to play golf. A couple of years ago, he learned how to skydive. And he always finds time for a hike or a workout at Gym 244, a bare-bones facility that reminds him of the one NASA used to have, before they ripped it out and replaced it with something new. It scares off lesser men. The Tucson temperature topped 108 degrees when Kelly arrived at the gym on a recent Monday afternoon. It was hotter inside. He walked through an open door and found his trainer of three years, Chris Gartrell, … [Read more...] about Mark Kelly: Former astronaut living his life with a new set of choices

Published July 26, 2018 As we all know, Iceland is currently in the midst of the worst summer ever recorded. But in the last week, spirits were raised as uncharacteristically good weather hit the city with a bang, boosting morale and bringing some much needed Vitamin D to the pale residents of Reykjavík. Temperatures reached highs of 14°C, with clear skies overhead and all were out and about enjoying what might very well be the last semi-ok day until next year. And while we were being sent good weather, the midwives’ tale finally ended. After more than 30 midwives resigned last month in response to the government’s refusal to raise their wages, women and men from all around Iceland came together this week in a social media campaign called #égstyðljósmæður, which translates to #ISupportMidwives. On Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, Icelanders shared how midwives had helped them through pregnancy, birth, and aftercare. These powerful posts … [Read more...] about What Are Icelanders Talking About?: Weather, Wages, All We Need Is A Little Patience!
