Not only as the first ever but it may also go into the record books as a Norfolk council attempts to break a Guinness World Record. Norfolk Day will be taking place on July 27. To celebrate the UK’s first Norfolk Day, South Norfolk Council are giving people the chance to get into the Guinness Book of Records by dressing up as hares. The Council is inviting people to join them at the Broads Authority’s Totally Broads Day at Whitlingham on Friday, July 27 to attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as hares. The former Great British Bake Off judge, 83, took to the stage at London’s Alexandra Palace to launch lifestyle brand Cath Kidston’s bid to break the record. Each participant had to drink a full cup of tea and eat a whole scone with jam and cream in order for their entry to be counted before the official Guinness World Records adjudicator collected and announced the results. A total of 978 people attended the event, meaning enough tasty treats were enjoyed to ensure they beat the previous record by 243 people. A whopping 250 litres of tea, 2,400 scones, and 4,100 pots of jam and clotted cream were consumed. A prison officer is hoping to smash a world record by driving a lawn tractor on the epic journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End. A woman from Rutland is joining an attempt to create a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of heart attack survivors in one place. The event, being organised by support group Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK, will take place on Saturday, June 9, at Basildon Hospital in Essex. Ingrid Gardner, from Oakham, is going and would like other survivors from Leicestershire and Rutland to join in the attempt too. The last thing that Ingrid, 42, remembers before her cardiac arrest is attending the funeral of a work colleague in Milton Keynes. Later that day, when Ingrid collapsed in the street, it was lucky that a passer-by noticed that something was seriously wrong and gave her CPR until an ambulance arrived. Ingrid said: “I have no memory of my cardiac arrest or the three or four days following.
