BT workers will go on strike for the first time in 35 years
BT workers have voted overwhelmingly to strike, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced. It will be the first time they’ve done so in 35 years, following a ballot of 40,000 members after pay rise negotiations collapsed in April. It comes as staff in industries across the country demand better pay to combat the spiralling cost of living crisis. The failure to help workers cope with soaring inflation was one of the reasons given for railway strikes which have cripped large portions of the UK’s network. In April, BT increased wages for 58,000 staff by a flat £1,500 – the biggest increase in two decades – ammounting to 3% for those in higher pay grades and 8% for lower ones. National inflation is currently 9.1% and is on track to hit 11% in October when energy bills are set to go up again. … [Read more...] about BT workers will go on strike for the first time in 35 years

Tim Allen has shared his thoughts on the recent Toy Story spin-off, Lightyear, explaining why he wasn’t that impressed by the flick. Chris Evans took over his iconic role as Buzz Lightyear in the prequel, which saw everyone’s favorite space toy embarking on an intergalactic mission to return his friends to their home planet after their ship gets stuck in a dangerous area. Viewers have been divided by the movie , which came nearly three decades after the beloved original hit the big screen. Tim was asked for his opinion of Lightyear during an interview with Extra, and said that it had ‘no connection’ to the characters that he and Tom Hanks voiced (Woody). ‘The short answer is I’ve stayed out of this, because it has nothing to do [with my character],’ he said. ‘We talked about this many years ago…but the brass that did the first four movies is not this. ‘It’s a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies.’ The Home Improvement actor … [Read more...] about Toy Story legend Tim Allen shades Chris Evans’ Lightyear spin-off: ‘It has no relationship to Buzz’
