The retailers setting up shop in the metaverse
By Andrea Murad and Will Smale Published 17 hours ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing There is a well-known saying when buying property that the three most important things to consider are "location, location, location". Well, it now appears that this mantra also applies in the virtual universe that some are hailing as the future of the internet, the so-called metaverse. Still very much in its infancy, this is the immersive, online space where cartoon-like 3D representations of ourselves, known as avatars, can walk around, and talk and interact with others. You typically access it by wearing a set of virtual reality (VR) goggles connected to your computer. The company formerly known as Facebook is so convinced that the metaverse is the future of the internet that last year it changed its name to Meta. Meta and its boss Mark Zuckerberg think that eventually … [Read more...] about The retailers setting up shop in the metaverse
‘The Atlantic’ Writer Claims Shops Are Boarding Up Ahead Of Election Because Of Trump | The Daily Wire
Anne Applebaum, a staff writer for The Atlantic, claimed on Sunday that businesses in major cities across the U.S. are boarding up their windows ahead of election days because of President Donald Trump. Applebaum fired off her take on Twitter and garnered more than 32,000 likes and nearly 10,000 retweets on the post within 24 hours. “When conservatives celebrated Trump’s election 4 years ago, did they know that in 2020 we would board up shops, prepare for riots and the arrival of militias, game out ways he might steal the election, protest aggressive vote suppression? This is what he has done to America,” Applebaum said. “Plus gum up the US postal service, incite supporters to violence …” When conservatives celebrated Trump's election 4 years ago, did they know that in 2020 we would board up shops, prepare for riots and the arrival of militias, game out ways he might steal the election, protest aggressive vote suppression? Heathrow risks killing off the golden age of air travel
If you currently work in the travel industry, it probably pays to have a sense of humour. Take the chief executive of Heathrow who clearly still has time for a good joke. In typically brazen fashion, John Holland Kaye has warned that a ruling forcing the airport to cut its charges will leave holidaymakers facing “a worse experience”. Sorry, “worse”? How often does he actually set foot inside Heathrow? Sadly, Holland-Kaye is being serious but try telling those poor passengers whose children were forced to sleep on the floor last week after the cancellation of 15,000 flights that things could have been worse. Or the people whose luggage ended up in a sea of suitcases strewn across the airport floor and had to wait days to get their precious belongings back. Or how about those who were told to find hotels in the middle of the night after they’d been left stranded amid the chaos. Still, one thing is funny: Holland-Kaye’s increasingly pathetic attempts to get passengers to … [Read more...] about Heathrow risks killing off the golden age of air travel
