FOOTBALL clubs change their kits every season and once you've got used to the current kit it's time for the new one. Well, that time is now - as details are slowly emerging of what kit the biggest players at the biggest clubs will be starring in next year. In case you hadn't noticed, football kits are massive business. Global sportswear firms pay hundreds of millions, even billions - if Real Madrid's rumoured extension with Adidas goes through - to have their logo featured on the world's biggest strips. With kits changing every season, however, the design teams of some companies have been running thin on ideas. But that will now start the next great trend for football kits: going old school.Classic Football Shirts co-founder Doug Bierton, 33, believes designers are going retro with their designs because they realise football fans today are nostalgic for looks of the past. Bierton, whose website has almost every shirt you could think of, told SunSport: "Adidas are looking back to the … [Read more...] about Football kit leaks 2019-20: What Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona will wear next season

THE season has ended for most clubs across Europe. Just a handful of games remain - although some pretty big ones among those - before we head for a summer break. And then do it all again next season. A NATION AWAITS By Friday morning, the nation will know. What awaits? The latest embarrassment for an ailing north London institution whose day is now long gone? Another fumble by a bumbling entity rather less than popular in Liverpool and thus the need for more dither and delay? A glorious throwback to the 1950s, when everyone had a job and the factories pumped out British-made goods and smoke to everyone’s heart’s content? A Scottish failure to impose on the grander stage? Which leaves Arsenal. As he awaits the exit poll at 10pm, perhaps Jeremy Corbyn may road-test his nerves by watching his beloved Gunners take on Standard Liège in an early evening kick-off from which Freddie Ljungberg’s legends can only go out if they lose by five or more goals and Eintracht Frankfurt beat Vitória. Surely not even this Arsenal could suffer such a fate. Should matters go awry later on in the evening, perhaps JC may reach for some nettle soup and homemade gooseberry jam, … [Read more...] about The latest embarrassment for an ailing north London institution?
January 31 Nothing to do with the Bundesliga, this one, but a potentially significant signing for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have picked up disgruntled Brazilian winger Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain. One of the first superstars to join the modern PSG, Lucas has been sidelined by various other acquisitions, not least his countryman Neymar and Germany's Julian Draxler. Lucas wasn't ready to debut against Manchester United on Wednesday, although Spurs didn't seem to miss him, beating Jose Mourinho's men 2-0. January 31 Beside the big news surrounding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Michy Batshuayi, Bundesliga clubs remained somewhat active on the last day of the transfer window. Here's a summary of some of the other German comings and goings: Sebastian Langkamp reinforces the Werder Bremen defense, leaving Hertha Berlin. RB Leipzig loan England and Everton youngster Ademola Lookman until the season's end. Borussia Mönchengladbach again loan West Ham talent Reece … [Read more...] about Transfer news: Reece Oxford back to Gladbach, Lookman to RB Leipzig
At climate negotiations, most issues are complex, but there is generally a common factor running through them, and that's money. How much should countries pay to be allowed to pollute? How much should those that protect the climate receive as a reward? How can jobs and economies be protected as the world warms? There is broad agreement at COP25 in Madrid that developed countries have a greater responsibility for the generation of historic greenhouse gas emissions. But there is less consensus on how to compensate developing countries who have contributed little to the problem, yet face the impacts of the climate crisis. Ten years ago, during COP15 in Copenhagen, negotiators agreed that industrialized countries would mobilize $100 billion US dollars a year by 2020 to help developing countries deal with the effects of global warming and adopt clean energy technologies. They pledged to mobilize the same amount every year until 2025, by when they aim to have agreed on a new and more … [Read more...] about COP25: Can the US escape climate finance obligations?
