Donald Trump has baffled medical professionals and energy experts alike, claiming windmills can cause cancer. The US President was giving a speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee's spring dinner on Tuesday when he made the false claim. "We've ended the war on American energy - the United States is now the number one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world, and that all happened over the last two years," he told the crowd. "Hillary [Clinton, former presidential rival] wanted to put up wind. Wind. If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations - your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer. You told me that one. Reaow, reaow, you know the thing makes the sonar." There is no evidence windmills can cause cancer. "The American Cancer Society is unaware of any credible evidence linking the noise from windmills to cancer," the organisation told the New York Times. In contrast, the World Health … [Read more...] about Donald Trump falsely claims windmills cause cancer

DONALD Trump will declare a national emergency to fund construction of a huge border wall with Mexico, the White House announced last night. In an unprecedented move that will likely face a hefty legal challenge, the president will order that government money be directed towards his promised barrier. Trump will also sign off on a spending bill agreed by lawmakers earlier this week that will avoid a second crippling government shutdown. White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said: "President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action - including a national emergency - to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border." The emergency declaration will infringe upon the power of Congress over control of the national purse strings. And it will plunge Trump into an extended court battle with lawmakers over the limit of his power. The top Democrat in Congress immediately denounced the … [Read more...] about Donald Trump to declare national emergency to build Mexico border wall and avoid feared government shutdown… but faces lengthy court battle
Backbench Labour MP Chris Williamson has hit out at the UK’s response to the Venezuelan crisis for following the lead of US President Trump. He insisted that there is “no place for external intervention from foreign powers.” In response to the US, UK, Canada and many European countries coming out to officially recognize Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s interim president, Williamson reminded MPs in Parliament on Tuesday that US intervention in Latin American countries “never ends well.” He suggested US intervention and things such as “manufactured shortages” of food currently enveloping Venezuela, have been witnessed over the years in Chile, Honduras and other Latin American countries. Williamson, a prominent Corbynite MP, argued that instead of doing as they’re told by President Trump, Theresa May’s government should be working with the international community to find a peaceful resolution between Venezuela’s socialist … [Read more...] about UK must stop acting as ‘Donald Trump’s poodle’ over Venezuela – Labour MP (VIDEO)
Donald Trump has repeatedly railed against Nato, claiming it was “obsolete” and unfair to the US, with fears he could pull out of the alliance. With the president expected to attend a London summit for the defence organisation in December, the Press Association takes a look at the background:– What is Nato? The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was formed in 1949 to prevent a resurgence of nationalism and militarism in Europe after two world wars and to deter the Soviet Union’s expansion. Its ranks have swelled to 29 member nations who agree to mutual defence in response to an enemy attack.“An attack against one ally is considered as an attack against all allies,” as the principle goes. They pledged in recent years to bring defence spending to at least 2% of each country’s GDP by 2024. – How does Mr Trump rate it? PRESIDENT Donald Trump's bizarre orange suntan is the result of "good genes" and not dodgy sunbeds, a senior White House official says. The only artificial element of the tangerine tinge was a little bit of powder – applied only for television appearances, the top aide said. Speaking to the New York Times on condition of anonymity, the official was quick to stress Trump's preferred powder was translucent, no bronzed. This isn’t the first time a White House official has made questionable claims about Trump's seemingly incredible genes. When he first entered the presidency, the White House doctor said he was in incredible physical shape, despite sporting a decent amount of excess weight and admitting he didn’t exercise. There has long since been speculation about whether the president used fake tan or sun beds. According to former FBI director James Comey, who was sacked by the president, pale circles around Trump's eyes suggested he used protective goggles to stop the … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s bizarre orange suntan result of ‘good genes’ and not dodgy sunbeds, top aide claims
