ENGINEERS have unveiled an unmanned robotic vehicle which can travel on wheels or as a four-legged WALKING machine in the world’s most inhospitable locations. The ‘Transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot, or TIGER, has been designed by Hyundai Motor Group to carry cargo over challenging terrain. Dubbed the first uncrewed ultimate mobility vehicle (UMV), the concept features a sophisticated leg and wheel locomotion system, 360-degree directional control, and a range of sensors for remote observation. The high-tech machine will also be able to connect to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which can fully charge and deliver it to inaccessible locations. TIGER is being developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s New Horizons Studio, headquartered in Mountain View, California. Shocking video has emerged of a gravely wounded man pleading for help after being run over by a van. Elizabeth Kate Martin, 38, was arrested on Monday in Gulfport, Mississippi, after she allegedly ran over her boyfriend with a vehicle during an argument and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. "Since the third quarter, we've seen an unparalleled rise in demand for container transport," Nils Haupt of container shipping company Hapag Lloyd told DW. It's an unexpected but gratifying development following 12 years of a business slump and the onset of the pandemic. Haupt said shipping was hit hard in January and February 2020 as Chinese production ground to a halt, and so did exports to Asia. "But then things took a turn, and demand took a dive in the US, Europe and South America," he recalled. "Chinese production was restarted, but there wasn't a lot of transport activities — our industry thought it would stay this way for weeks or even months."
