Premier League fans have called for penalties to be replaced by the one-on-one battles between goalkeepers in the style of MLS skill competition 'Goalie Wars' from 2001. Early editions of the MLS All-Star Game included contests that pitted rival stars against each other, including AirSoccer, Fastest Man and Power Shot - but it was Goalie Wars that stole the show with keepers defending and attacking full-sized goals placed 28 yards apart. The official rules description reads: "A goalkeeper from each Divisional team will compete in a one-on-one game of protecting their goal while attempting to score on their opponent’s net. TOTTENHAM have joined the race to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, according to reports. Antonio Conte is keen to add another homegrown player into his squad ahead of the new season. Lingard was released by boyhood club Manchester United when his contract expired on Thursday night. And that means the midfielder is now unemployed with the new Premier League season just five weeks away. According to The Telegraph , though, he could be snapped up by Spurs. A GIANT picture of Ellen White was projected on to the White Cliffs of Dover on Thursday - six nights before England begin their battle for Euros silverware. The ginormous illumination of the Lionesses' number nine coincided with a petition calling for the site to be renamed after the striker. Travel firm Snaptrip wants the National Trust to rename the famous landmark the Ellen White Cliffs of Dover throughout the contest. Their call comes five days before Sarina Wiegman’s side’s tournament opener against Austria at Old Trafford , the first match of the first Women’s Euros to be held on English soil since 2005.
