A woman has been named the new Tokyo Olympics chief - replacing a man who was forced to resign after saying women talk too much. Japan's Seiko Hashimoto, who has competed in four winter and three summer Games as a speed skater and cyclist, takes over from Yoshiro Mori following his departure last week over the sexist remarks . Her name Seiko comes from "seika", which translates as Olympic flame in English. Japan: Women allowed to attend ruling party’s meetings – as long as they keep quiet
Women will be invited to attend key meetings of the ruling political party in Japan - as long as they don't speak. The Liberal Democratic Party proposals will allow five female lawmakers to join the party's all-male board meetings as observers. The women would be able to "look" at the "kind of discussions" taking place and submit any opinions afterwards. It follows the resignation of the Tokyo Olympic organising committee chief after he said during an online meeting that women talk too much. In the latest case, Toshihiro Nikai, the ruling party's secretary general, said he had heard criticism that the board was male-dominated, but was keen to stress that the members are elected. But this tactic recently backfired for one blogger who tried to nab a free takeaway meal, but ended up at the police station instead. Four Legs - a pop-up restaurant operating at pub The Compton Arms in Islington is being praised for its extremely savage response to the blogger who reached out to ask for free food. Not only did the unnamed influencer request a meal for themselves in exchange for a plug on Instagram, but they asked for an extra four meals for their "bubble" too. The influencer reached out to the restaurant via DMs and said they'd post to their Instagram and even pop in for a meal once the venue reopens.
