BT chief Jansen gave board ultimatum over chairman’s future

Philip Jansen, the chief executive of BT Group, gave boardroom colleagues an ultimatum over his own future that led to the departure this week of the company's chairman, Jan du Plessis. Sky News has learnt that Mr Jansen told fellow directors of the telecoms giant over a period of several months that he had become frustrated with the speed at which BT was taking key strategic decisions. The BT chief, who joined in 2019, indicated that he was prepared to resign unless Mr du Plessis was replaced by a chairman who could accelerate the pace of change at the former state monopoly, according to several people close to the company. Mr du Plessis, one of the most experienced chairmen in corporate Britain, said on Monday that he would leave once a successor was identified. He has chaired companies including SAB Miller, the brewer, and British American Tobacco, and held non-executive directorships at Marks & Spencer and Lloyds Banking Group. Dr. Seuss books pulled over depictions of minorities

Six books by Dr. Seuss will no longer be published or sold because of racist or insensitive imagery, the company that oversees the late author's legacy announced on Tuesday. In a statement , Dr. Seuss Enterprises said it had made the decision to discontinue And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street , If I Ran the Zoo , McElligot's Pool , On Beyond Zebra! , Scrambled Eggs Super! , and The Cat's Quizzer . "These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,'' the statement, which was released on the author's birthday, said. "We are committed to action." US jobs surge beats forecasts in signs of labour market recovery

US jobs grew more than expected last month amid falling COVID-19 cases, rising vaccination rates and extra government support putting the labour market recovery back on firmer footing. Nonfarm payrolls surged 379,000 jobs in March after rising 166,000 in January, according to a closely watched employment report. It followed the first fall in eight months in December. PEOPLE wishing to wave goodbye to Twitter can delete their profile in a matter of minutes. It's an easy process - but how do you go about it? How do I delete my Twitter account? Before your Twitter account can be permanently deleted , it has to be deactivated. To do this, simply sign into your account and click on the three-dotted-button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Then click on the “Settings and privacy” tab and choose Deactivate account. If you are using a mobile phone, the button has three little lines on it and is located in the top left-hand corner. For mobile phone users, you will need to click on the Account tab before you can hit deactivate.
